Afrer having owned both, I say the chopper is a better design. I like the handle much more on the choppy, but the blade isnt as visually appealing in my opinion. I havent got to go out and use the choppy, but just not having the finger groove/ double hilt makes it more comfy to hold.

what are your opinions?

Ratweiler all the way. Ive owned both and used both and Have a rat Daddy and I didn't like the double guard at first but love it now because it prevents twisting and also keeps the hand from sliding back.

Ratweiler and the finger hilt for win. Just fits my hand more comfortably and I am more of a cutter than a chopper.

Nice comparison pic chickenplucker! I dont have anything to add to this as I dont own either, I just didnt realize how close to the sarsquatch these blades were.

I envy them less now :D got INFI verson!

I have had both. I no longer have a Chopweiler (and neither need nor want one), but re-acquired an original handle Ratweiler after selling my first one in a drunken stupor. It will be staying with me.

Had both... Passed the C-weiler on to somebody who needed it, kept the original OD Ratweiler :D

+1

I would give a slight functional edge to the Chopweiler. I would give the Ratweiler an aesthetic edge. Both are great, but if I could only keep one it would have to be the Ratweiler. :D

Between those two, I liked the Chopweiler a lot better. But that is also in part because I prefer the Mini Mojo to the Ratweiler for similar non-chopping tasks. The Chopweiler is ALL business with it's basic drop point; a good chopper as designed. I also think the Mini Mojo is much better looking than the Ratweiler with it's sexy recurve! :D

Ratweiler baby!!!
Gen 1 specifically.
I had a gen 2 but I didn't like the "blocky" handles or the plain micarta so off it went with the intentions of a gen 1 in the future.
The future is here and the gen 1 is DA BOMB!!!

Here's mine with some other popular Busse and kin,

Only own the chop, great outdoor knife for the size\weight, but I HATE the hump. I need to send mine to someone to have it de-humped. I've seen a few pics of one that have had that done and they look much more comfortable.

ST, what is the bottom one, SAR 6? Got a photo of it next to the Camp Tramp? Looks awesome...

Thanks ST. I love that size blade. I had a CF Sarsquatch like chickenplucker's and let it go (painfully) in a downsize in favor of my Camp Tramp. If the SAR 6 is the same size...no swedge to contend with like the Squatch...thicker, but I bet it cuts very well too and could be a great blade in that size range!

Ratweiler is a little bigger and I felt like I lost a little for finer work...

Not the greatest lighting or pics but here you go (I'll get better pics up after work tomorrow in day light.,

I like the Ratweiler better...if I could only have 1 that's what it would be.

I really like the look of the ratweiler but as functionality goes it can't be any better than the Chopweiler. Since having my Chopweiler I haven't really even felt the urge to get any other knives in that size range. If I did get the urge and had the funds then I think I'd be looking for a Sarsquatch !!!

That about sums up my feelings. The CW is one of my favorites.
