Chopweiler sharpening?

I just got my first Swamprat (also my first from the Busse line) and I love it. Its an OD Chopweiler. Anyhow I'm wondering how I should go about resharpening it. I've been using sand paper on a soft backing for all my other knives, which I learned on this forum. THe technique is great and I'm getting a better edge faster than ever. Is it okay to do the same with the chopweiler or is there a better mothod I should try. I really hate to screw up a $200 knife by improperly sharpening it.

Thanks

I did it today and I must say it took an edge very easily. I started at 220 since I had a small knick it the blade and took it down to 2000. Finished it off with a little chrome polish and now its much sharper than it came from the factory.

Now it just needs a sheath.

SGT, the large Spec Ops Combat Master sheath will work nicely for the Chopweiler after a little playing with the Kydex liner if you're looking for utility vs looks.

+1

it's a great combo. i didn't have to mess with the insert at all on mine. ymmv

I got the Spec-Ops sheath today. The blade fit but it was a little tight and I didnt want to cut through the liner or dull the edge (not that it would) so I remolded it a little. I found putting the insert in a large pot of boiling water then inserting the blade once it was plyable worked well. Its a tad looser than I would like now but I guess it will work. If not I will reform it latter.

Now I just need to stock the pouch on the sheath with goodies. SO far I have a magnezium block, dental floss, fishing line, a couple bandaids, a small LED light, and a pair of razor blades. Any other ideas for stuff I should cram in there. I was thinking about a small ceramic sharpening rod, and a small fishing kit. What else?

Thanks
