Chopweiler Vs BWM

Im considering purchasing a chopper knife that could double as a "do-it-all" knife for camping in all weather conditions. I have a boss street and a RD already but this weekend i went camping at a lake with my RMD and had to process medium size limbs for fire as well as fish and other cutting. the edge held great, but the blade got some rust spots that didnt seem to effect the edge. the chopping could have been easier as well. between the BWM and the chopweiler, which would you pick for a camp blade? which is more utilitarian in design? which chops better? anyone got some weights on these beasts?

I'd definitely go with the BWM. The extra length will always come in handy for doing camp chores.

The BWM works great for me camping and backyard chores. It's not overly thick yet chopped as well as a Dogfather for me and split wood better, due to the full convex grind.

It's perfectly balanced IMO and I never once thought it should be longer, shorter, thicker, etc. IIRC it weighs about 23 oz. I'm not sure about the Chopweiler. I recommend stripping the BWM blade since rust is less of an issue than with SR101.

You want a big knife and a small knife for comfortable camping.

Gladius and BWM :)

Or maybe BWM and something like a Cultellus.

Unless price is your primary consideration, go with the BWM; if it is, then buy a Dog Father.

I think it's .... up to this point.... pretty unanimous........

BWM will be a lot easier to find anyway.......

I have a Choppy and I've got to say, it's real beauty! Great value and a really sturdy, no fuss knife. But it's not INFI. It will corrode quicker than INFI, but just a quick wipe over with an oily rag or a squirt with WD40 takes care of that after clean up. And it is a lot cheaper too. If $$$ aren't an issue, I'd go with the BWM, but if they are, the Chopster will more than take care of your needs.
