I'm considering getting another Chosera stone for Christmas, as of right now I have the 1k and 3k. I really want a good coarse water stone, as my DMT XC plate is fairly worn out. I much prefer stones over DMT plates, so I was wondering how the Chosera 400 stone works. This will be used for reprofiling, so I would like it to be able to hog away some material at a relatively acceptable rate.

I like having the same stones, so I'd really like to get the Chosera if at all possible. Will the 400 grit stone be aggressive enough, or do I need to move down to something closer to 220 or 120? If it makes a difference, I prefer harder stones like the Choseras over muddier stones.

Its not as aggressive as say a shapton 320 , but its a solid stone. I too prefer sticking with one type of stone.

I used the 400 quite a bit and while I don't see it as a coarse stone it does remove metal quickly and wears very slowly as you would expect from the chosera line. It can get a little muddy with softer steels but cuts very clean lines and is kinda a must have if you already have the other chosera stones.

If you need coarser beyond the 400 then the Atoma 140 would be a good option.

Thanks for the responses, I'll get the 400 and enjoy it for a while. If I find it cuts too slow, I'll worry about that when my birthday rolls around :D
