Hello everybody, I just got onto the forum while researching for knives.
my byrdrench broke on me:(
so while gonna ship it for repair, I am looking for a new knife.

So.. after many hours... I reached the conclusion of either getting the 943 or 960

the main reason why I am not considering the 940 is because of its handle color.

From what I know, the 960 blade keeps the edge better,
but from most of the reason forums.. people still recommending the 940s and never mention the 960. Is there anything wrong with the 960?
(perhaps.. the axis system is not as well as the 940s? because I have seem
the lock system of 940s been mentioned many many times through out the forum)

so, yes, I am down to choosing one of these knife to be my EDC.
and I also wanted to ask...
how is the scratch resistance on the 943 and 960... because most likely the knife will be in the same pocket as my keys... so .... it is impossible for the knife not to be scratch.

thank you.

I have both and much prefer the 960. I believe that it is a much more attractive knife. It feels better in my hand. I also carry my knives loose in my pocket and the 960 fits better. The 943 isn't much larger but it's noticeable. As far as scratches go, both have aluminum handles and will scratch. However, you can get the 960 in silver. That way they won't be that obvious at first glance.

The 960 is a beautifully crafted knife. redsst mentioned its size, IMO you should handle one before buying, you might be surprised how small it is; I was. But again it is a very handsome piece, especially with the red anodized handles.

PS: since when is the 960 limited edition?
I searched on E-bay, some people call it
Benchmade Innova Osborne
but... I am pretty darn sure it is 960

There have been several Limited Editions of the 960.

The 960 is generally referred to as the Innova.

The standard production models come in silver or red handles with either a plain or combo edge.

I like both knives. The 960 is a classier knife IMO. It is thin and light and I carry mine frequently. That said, I prefer the 921.

I owned the 960 once upon a time.

It's incredibly thin and light - almost felt like it was lacking in weight.
The handle is beautiful, intricate, and a bit boxy/uncomfortable.
Also, the blade is incredibly thin; a great letter opener.

It's a great office EDC but has too much of a delicate feel for the outdoors. It may be stronger than it looks/feels but that's the impression it gives while in the hand.

Good call redsst - the 960 SLV might be a good fit, especially if it is going to be carried with keys. The black handles on the 943 would show wear if they constantly rubbed other metal objects like keys or change. I have a 960 Red that I carry quite often, its a great knife!
