Can anyone tell me anything about Maker
Chris English and his "Z" knives? Are these
custom or production? What's the "Z" for?

Jay,
Don't know a whole lot but McCarty made a very nice small auto gents folder with various fancy handle materials called the "Z" knife - when he had to stop making them due to health reasons his grandson Chris English took over and still makes them - have one - 2 1/2" mirror blade, anodized Ti frame & Maple burl scales - very positive action, great snap - super gents knife. He also makes a tactical version now with micarta, G-10 & carbon fiber handles. Extent of my knowledge - hope it helps.

I know Chris and have seen his work first hand. In fact, I own one of his Autos, and it is slick as can be! He is a great custom maker and a super guy. He grew up in his Grandfather's shop and now is a full-time maker.
