Hello to all, I currently came into possession of a Chris Peterson knife and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it. I've been doing hours of research on it to turn up very little information. From what I've read is the knives are made of O-1 tool steel and meteorite. Is that correct? I would find it hard to believe that all of them would be made with meteorite but I could be wrong. Here are some pictures.

One thing I have noticed that makes my knife stand out from all the other Chris Peterson knive pictures I've seen is the meteorite stamp. Anyone know why all the other Chris Peterson knife pictures on the net have this stamp absent?

I've never been much of a blade kind of guy, more of a gun guy. But I would say this knife has the most unique blade I've seen. So if someone can answer my two previous question that would be great.

Thanks,

James

I have owned a Chris Peterson knife.
What you have there shows his typical style, which he somewhat modifies for blade length, height, and thickness, depending on what he's making.
That angle on the ricasso is one of the hallmarks of his blades, and the file work on top is something he often does. He makes his own damascus and mokume.
I had one with about a 4.5" blade, 5-metal Mokume bolsters, and ram's horn scales, in random damascus, with that same file-work on top of the blade.
Mine was not meteorite.
Extremely good crafstmanship which I felt was worth way more than the asking price.

His wife makes the sheaths.
I talked to him on the phone once.

If I were you, I'd hold on to that knife.
They are great, and hard to come by, and I wish I had never sold mine.

That's a really cool one! I like the idea that it's made from a meteorite! I didn't realize that you could use meteorites to forge layered steel... but I guess it makes sense, since they're largely metallic. Neat, thanks for posting!
(Wish I had some info to share...)

I had one(awesome knife scary sharp)that I got in trade from Stabber I think he still has 3or4 in his stash hit him up for info he is a member here:thumbup:

Thank you for comments and info. Hopefully someone can tell me about the meteorite stamp and why most of the pictures of Chris Peterson knives don't have the stamp.

I think it's probably because most of his knives were not made from meteorite.
Mine wasn't.
