Chris reeve at his best

Hey guys I wanted to go through what I think Chris Reeve at his best. I have a small micarta Classic and I wanted to go through some differences. First I will start with the solid pins. I think this gives the knife extra beauty from the ones offered today with the hex on both sides. Now it does not add function to the pins I just think the look better.

The handle of the classic has three bevled edge something I think adds beauty to the knife. Don't get me wrong all crk knives are very precise cutting instruments, I just think this gives the knife extra detail.

I find that the thumb hole is better cut, and because of the 3 bevled edge makes this knife very easy to open. I am not mocking the work of Chris reeve today. I just going through the details of his older work. The 21 is a awesome knife, just as good as the classic, I am just going through some differences.

The s30v blade is awsome I have uses the bg42 and in my opinion I like s30v better. Some might say that he hardness is too soft, say it is perfect for resharpening, and the edge will not chip. I have not used the s35vn steel so I could not tell you it is better.

Now one thing I do not like about the new ones is the Idaho Made stamp. I have never had one and will not purchase one for that reason. I think the engraving could have been placed in a diferrent spot on the knife. I do like the engraving of the classic I think the engraving was put in a perfect position.

Tell me what you guys think, do you think attention to detail is better on crk older knives?

I only 1 classic, a large plain jane. It's pretty much a safe queen. I did carry it a little a when I got it about 2.5 years ago.

I'll have to get it out today to look at some of the details about the classic you mentioned in your thread.

Thanks for posting your thread.

I much prefer the Regulars and Classics, and that's all I have, or will have. Five Regulars, and Two Classics(Micarta).
Tried a few 21's, but didn't keep them long. Not knocking the 21 or 25 at all, I just prefer the Regulars and Classics myself.

I've had regulars in the past a love them but because of financial reasons I had to part with them. I some day would like to get another but they are hard to find. I am though happy with the classic

Why does the "Idaho made" bother so many people? I personally like it. Not trying to start anything, just genuinely curious.
Side note: purchasing my first CRK Friday! Couldn't be more excited!

The Idaho Made stamp has not stopped me from buying I own 3 with it. I'd prefer not to see it, any more than Michigan Made on the knife.

Reminds me of potato every time it is mentioned.

It does not bother me if the CRK has Idaho Made or not.

What CRK are you getting? My bet is it will not be your last!

A large s30v 21 with the insingo blade! My guess is that you are right, already planning out when I'll be getting a small 21 with the normal clip point blade shape!

You are right on the 2 phases.
I do prefer the cutout for the thumbstud on the 21. Easier to open - for me at least.

PS: I wish IM stopped me from buying. ;)

A wise arctlicect once wrote less is more.

I very much prefer the newer ones. I'm a fan of the "Idaho made" stamp...what's not to be proud of?
Having said that I do like the old pivot on the Umnumzaan but see why CR changed it to an easier to adjust pivot system.

Maybe this is his best. The teamwork of his ever-evolving designs and the people he brings onboard to take his artforms to levels not seen before.

Got my first sebenza today however the detent seems to be strong, in all honesty I think I might be putting pressure on the lock bar (first integral lock also) any tips on how to make it a bit easier and how to not destroy my thumb?

They get smoother and smoother as the bronze phosphorous washers and titanium and steel do their whatever-hocus-pocus-magic and smooth each other out. Also, if the detent is a thing, your instincts are probably correct, and you are probably setting your fingers on the lockbar.

The small Classic MM micarta inlay is my favorite. I bought my 1st from the OP, but someone talked me out of it. I was finally able to replace it and so glad I did. It has been my daytime EDC since.
