Here's something that I had no idea existed until last weekend, the CR Broadsword. Apparently a survival sword, as the pommell unscrews and there is enough room in the handle for a good number of things, including possibly some tequila if you use the cap as a shot glass.

16" x .360" Blade.
2-1/8" Wide.
17-1/2" Tip to Guard.
27-1/4" OAL!!
4lbs, 3.4oz. One single piece of steel.
6" x 1-3/16" inside hollow handle...big enough for lots of gear!
Marked "South Africa" on reverse side.

Yes, that's my Sinn for size reference.

Here's some info straight from Anne Reeve (from 1998):

We made 11 "broad swords" back in 1987 while we were still in South Africa. Ten were double edged and one had a Sable styled blade. Blackjack sold them into the retail market at a huge markup and they now trade (infrequently as best we know) in the region of $2500 a piece. I seriously doubt that Chris would make any more....!

Anyway, hope you enjoy this as much as I had!

Thanks for posting. Now I wants me one!

Kind regards,

Jos

That's wicked.

I remember handling one of those way back when. Thought it was cool as heck but way outa my price range when I was 17 :D

Wow, I'v never seen one of those before...

That's outstanding!!! Thanks for the pics.

nikoknife- If you're referring to a forest full of zombies then I agree.;)

Chris also made a near sword like length of the Sable model that had either a twelve or fourteen inch blade. It was huge, but not made with the .360 thickness blade. I believe it was 5/16", IIRC. I had one back in probably 2001 or so. To be honest, with the weight of the single edged blade and the round handle, handling wasn't the best, as you couldn't orient the blade very effectively.

Take care,
John

Like this one? Sorry for the poor photo. Blade is around 14 inches and marked 7/13, the story I was told when I bought the knife was that Chris found/was offered one length of thicker than normal A2 Steel, enough just to make these 13 knives.

DCV, yep that's the one! And, looking at the picture, it's one of those knives you miss and wish you never sold. I wonder where the other 12 ended up?

better send Indiana Jones out to find em;)

I got to play with an exact one at BAKCA. Some guys at a local get together brought it also. It felt a little strange holding that thing in the middle of a sushi restaurant:D.
