Chris Reeve Butterfly

with the zaan blade? that'd make a pretty fat butterfly. but it would be cool.

I think that a CRK balisong would be neat, but there will not be a big enough demand for it. If a sebenza already cost 330$ (for a small base model) you can only imagine how much a CRK balisong would go for.

I dunno, i don't think it'd need to be that much more expensive.

In a balisong, there's not frame lock, and each of the handles could be milled out of a single piece... thus less necessity for higher tolerances.

two tang stop pins, and a spring latch. could be built simply enough.

i can already imagine long slim sleek handles with thing long micarta inlays, and a nice thick, but narrower version of the umnum blade with those awesome thumb and fore-finger cutouts.

that would be great.

It would be fantastic, especially with a bushing system (like the Sebenza) & solid (not screws just solid steel barrels) zen pins.

...also don't forget the beautiful typical Reeve micarta, over steel liners, sandwich construction.

Please do it:D

I don't know if the bushing system would work. i was thinking on it, and it doesn't seem suitable for flipping... unless the entire bushing was made from Ph-bronze.

Just because you don't need high tolerances doesn't mean you don't want them.

If they are so simple to build why aren't they less expensive? I haven't seen a BM42 for under $200.

A Butterfly would be cool for sure. But I dont think the demand would cause CRK to make one. I would love to know what they are working on next. CRK is always planning something new !!!

I'm not saying you don't want high tolerances. i'm saying that the slab design is much simpler than an umnumzaan, for example, would be. As a result, the tolerances might not be all that time consuming for a top notch product.

And i'm not saying it's going to be a sub-$200 knife. i just mean i don't think it'd necessarily be more expensive than an Umnumzaan at $400.

Who would think the Ti-Lock would be just under $500.00 ??? If CRK did make a butterfly, you can bet it would be of the highest quality.
