Hi there,

I'm new to BladeForums and would like to say hello to all the good people here, and thanks for so much useful information. I knew my Sebenza's were great tools, but had no idea how many other people were so enthusiastic about them, or that there'd be an entire website full of them.

Anyway, I'm looking for Chris Reeve cane photos if anyone has them. I've found reference to the cane online, and have seen some photos but understand they no longer make them.

I'd be interested in getting someone I know to make me a similar looking one to give as a gift if I can gather enough reference photos.

Also, if anyone knows what type of wood he used to use, that would be very helpful as well.

Thanks very much for your time. Have a great day! :)

The hardest thing you will need to acquire is the titanium ball he used for the handle's, they were originally meant for a hip joint ball replacement and even at the time the canes were offered I do recall that the supply he had of these was limited. The balls were anodized to really make them stand out.

The canes also have a titanium tip. As for the wood, I do recall there was a choice of more than a few.

I have actually only seen one of these canes in person that a friend had bought, I believe the cost was in the $300-$400 range.

This is an Ironwood cane with titanium ball. He also made versions with a turned wood ball, I'll try and post pictures later.

The titanium balls were originally made as hip joint replacements. They were too valuable and difficult to make to be used for cane handles, so the ones Chris got were actually technically defective.

The last cane I saw was at a New York knife show a couple of years ago, and they were asking $900.

Thank you very much for all this information and the photos. I'll certainly look forward to any more you can find. I'm going to print them for a fellow that can make me one of these.

The pictures are gorgeous. What work!

And Kdarmy and Esav... thank you kindly for the trivia. I'd never heard that before, but seeing them it makes sense.
