Hey Guys,

Cleaned my small regular Sebenza the other day. Everything went back together exactly as it came apart, washers with the same side up, etc. The blade center is perfect like it was, The blade is smooth with no play as long as I hold the Lock bar away from the blade. Seems that when I open, or close the blade when the lock bar is applying psi to the blade surface via the detent ball, it has a scrubbing feeling to it almost like it is scratching the blade. Its terrible feeling! Looked carefully at the blade and detent ball and see no problems.

Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance, TD

I put a tiny - tiny - drop of 85w Nano Oil on the detent ball after assembly. Makes it silky smooth.

When you disassembled the knife did you make sure and clean the blade lock face and oil the ball. If it still happens maybe try applying sharpie or graphite to the blade face.

All, Thanks for the feedback! Seems I will get on it again paying close attention to the detent ball and track, Will let you know.... TD

Wow! That was easy:thumbup: Definitely some serious user error on this, tried once again with a little lube as mentioned and she is smooth a silk, right back in my pocket.

Thank Guys!

75% of the suggestions are to lube the detent ball. That will smooth out the issue but it's not solving the issue. Remember that EVERY liner and frame lock uses a ball detent that slides over the blade tang. Knives from $5-$500 seem to have little problem with grinding or gritty action.

No knife should ever NEED the detent path lubed. Look how smooth a para 2 can open using the same basic system as our CR knives. Many CR owners report little to no lube for years and report smooth operations.

However, both my 21's went through a few days (when new) of horrid gritty action. If the lock bar was held back is was perfectly smooth. Not sure what it was because I cleaned them thoroughly. I nearly gave up on CR products. After a few days though, it became what I had hoped. Many many months later, it's still smooth as can be!

Don't give up and don't over lube like most of the YouTube reviewers.
