Chris Reeve Green Beret Knife

I have a GB, but haven't had much of a chance to really work with it, being winter and all. However, someone asked the right question. Which Busse?

The GB is one hell of a knife. Very well made. Great balance. It's got a very heafty blade. Anyone breaks this knife, you can bet they were either trying to save their lives, or simply doing something no one should do with a knife!

Mine came sharp, but not as sharp as my Mountaineer II. The GB does have a thicker blade, though. A little work on my Sharpmaker brought it to "paper slicing" sharp. Not bad for a blade as big and thick as the GB. The handle is comfortable, too. I would prefer no serrations. 1" of serrations on a 7" blade I can live with and might actually come in handy.

I also own 2 Busse's, a 3/16" SJ and 1/4" NO. It is heaftier than the former, but, not much less than the latter. My SJ has a convex edge and cuts/slices really good. The GB cuts/slices better than my NO. Yet, might loose a little to my SJ. Not much, though.

Different knives. Different uses. Either way you look at it, the GB it a great knife, which no one would be regretful to own.

The blade thickness of the GB is 0.22". Does anyone know the width of the blade?

Much depends on which particular Busse you compare it with. As a general rule, IMHO, the knives are in different catagories, both leaders in their respective classes. Both are the very best, again, IMO, that you can obtain in a production fixed blade knife. They are both my favorite and are companies with honest men who stand behind their products at the respective helms. Depending on your use of the knife, you would be hard pressed to do wrong with either. If you both one (or more) of each, you would really have it nailed!
