Seeking guidance

Would it be sacrilegious to wonder about changing the finish on a CRK fixed blades? I have the Green Beret/ Pacific/ Neil Roberts Warrior and while they are perfect as is, I began to wonder if anyone had changed the finish, maybe FDE? Has anyone posed the question to CRK? Certainly, just thinking out loud for now.

I am hoping to move up to a Umnamzaam or Sebenza. I already have a South African made Mountaineer which is treasure to me, as I met Chris Reeve at a Blade Show awhile back and showed him the knife had him take a picture with me and the blade.

To the best of my knowledge, CRK has always used GunKote to finish all their fixed blade knives. The older South African OPK ( One Piece Knives ) seemed to have a lighter finish than the newer ones. The newer models seemed to have a darker thicker finish if you will. The GB, Pacific, NR are S30V or S35VN and are actually designed for the military. Military knives have pretty much always had a dark anti glare finish for obvious reasons. The shiny blades you see in movies are just that, in movies and not for real world military action.

I really don't see them changing Ever. Its been CRK's blade coating of choice since its beginning. Its tried and true, time tested. Just doesn't get any better than that.
