I was wondering if anyone knew the type of coatings used on the Chris Reeve hollowhandles knives?

I have been a colllector and a fan on these knives for years.. I notice the hollowhandles made pre 1999 or maybe pre 1998 had a darker silk like coatings and the newer ones (post 1999- to the end 2009) had a more light grey finish..

I really like the old ones cause the coating just seems more appealing..

Any thoughts?

Thanks

They also made a green coated one which is pretty rare around 2004. Top one is numbered from the early 90's and the bottom from 2004, two of my favorite one piece knives.

I saw an Aviator (IIRC) that was green on one side and grey on the other. I have never seen any OPK like that before or since.

Thanks Dino! Awesome pics.. Glad i did not have to post mine.. You guys see the numbered version is a early usa knife and i like that coating much better.. There is alot of light in those pictures to show the details, but less light would bring out a nice coat on that top knife..

Dino i had a green shadow Iv and i never knew it was green.. The guy got it and said wow awesome a green shadow IV.. I could barely make out the green

thanks again Dino
