Does anyone know where I can get a Sebanza at a reasonable cost in europe. The only one I´ve found so far was a small sebanza for 800 dollars!!!

Try to contact the Kindal cutlery shop (33, avenue de l'Opéra 75002 PARIS FRANCE tel : 01 42 61 70 78 fax : 01 42 61 75 34). I was buying a Large Regular Sebenza for 430 euros (~480$) this year. They are one of the international CRK dealers...

Good luck for your quest !!!
;)

During the last month I seriously started to think about buying a Large Sebenza. Because I live in Italy, I had the same problems Abadir said: prices are very near to 800-900 USD.

If I bought it on Internet, the costs would be: 345 USD for the knife, 40 USD (I think) for sending it by UPS or the like, about 80 USD for taxes at the Italian Customs, about 30-40 USD for Customs Fees, say some other 20-30 USD for "variuos Custom Laws", so I would pay about 510-520 USD. And I was thinking to do so.

Are you sure of that price? It would be absolutely nice: I would have to pay that price and, say, 30-40 Euro for the courier, no tax or custom fees (Maastricht Pact)! Do they have an e-mail address?

I can't see time to contact Kindal, because it is approaching a very special day for me, and a Sebenza could be a nice present I could give myself.

I had mine (flat-ground Large Regular Sebenza) shipped via a friend in the US in two (uninsured) small USPS Global Priority Flat-Rate envelopes (one for the box, one for the knife)

The knife was $290, shipping $10 in total.

A couple of sleepless nights though, because the box arrived two days earlier then the knife... :D:eek:

The value declared on the envelopes was $40 or so... I was lucky, no import duty, no tax etc.

when i lived in japan and had things like knives and stuff mailed to me the customs form should be filled out by a friend and not a business, i always got what i needed and never payed customs.

Falcenberg : I'm sure of the price, it is the lower one I have found (430 euros - you probably will pay sending charges, but I think it will not be very expensive).
As I said, the Kindal cutlery shop is a CRK international dealer, so, I think they didn't pay the current price for the knives and maybe have better conditions for taxes.

Unfortunately, they don't have E-mail adress, but you can send them a fax or phone : they are very kind and efficient.

Have a nice day !
:)

Abadir, Falcenberg,

Drop me an email The Netherlands belongs to the EC so no customs troubles to any of you guys ;)

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Buy one from someone here and have them list it as a gift. This will by pass any customs charges. There is a few really nice ones for sale right now.

Dutch customs also charge import duty on gifts :( :(
And I heard 40% import duty on Titanium...apparantly one of the reasons the Sebenza is so expensive in Holland...
Just list the value around $40 and hope they don't open the package...

I lived in Paris for 3 months earlier this year, and stopped in at Kindal a few times. Nice place for a knife nut, friendly staff, great selection of Laguiole knives. They only had one plain Sebenza on hand, so you probably would have to order the CR knife you want. If that's the case, you may be just as well off ordering from somewhere in the States.

I was directed to your post by a fellow on this thread, but see that you don't list an email address so I will post the link to my forsale post on BladeForums for my large Classic wood inlay Sebenza, I've sent knives to europe before and shouldn't be a problem if care is taken, you can email me if you like or post on this thread Here as well.

Good shopping, as mentioned above, it's a buyers market this week, there are several nice Sebenza's on the ForSale block, so you can pick and choose...handy!

I bought my small sebenza from Archie at www.gearoutsidethebox.com he just posted it to me. The Channel Islands don't do VAT so no problems there. As most 'normal'folk consider 40 USD to be a lot for a knife I'll bet customs wouldn't give it a second glance if you put that as the value but at the end of the day its your risk if there is a problem I guess.

Happy hunting

Hi, Bagheera! I remember you very well! I asked your advices in the past when a friend of mine bought a Busse BM and saved a lot of money following them.

I am going to send you an e-mail ASAP.

I am a european resident and have bought both from Gary Graley and Archie at GearOutsidethebox . Both gentlemen are exceptional. I've bought several Sebenza's direct from the USA and for me the price difference outweighs the customs risk.

Gary's Sebbie is gorgeous. :)

THANKS FELLAS!!! I can't believe I missed this thread! The boys across the pond are my favorites! The Motherland, if you will.
