I just got a Shadow II, serial #153, with a black leather paddle sheath, both made in South Africa and was curious to what the value of the two might be. It is unused, but there are a couple of marks on the edge of the octangle cap. Thanks in advance!

Here are a couple of pictures:

So, no one has an idea what my knife is worth?

O.K., maybe you needed some pictures, so I added them to the first post. I hope someone has an opinion.

Actually it looks more as it's a Sable and not a Shadow. What's the bladelength?

Tim, first it's a Sable not a Shadow. The Shadows are all spear point blades. Sables are an up sweep blade style. Second, you only have that one because I didn't buy it!:p:D LOL

It was an excellent buy, Congrats!

Now, if the blade is 4" in length then it's a Sable III (3) and if the blade is 5.5" in length it's a Sable IV (4)

Judging by your pic's ...which were taken very well, I may add.;) It seems to be more of a 5.5" blade and that would confirm it to be a Sable IV (4).

Being a South African CRK makes it more desirable by a couple of $100.00 dollars in most area's. But if that sheath, which looks like a John Leth made sheath an early sheath, that also adds more $$$. But the thing that really left me in question when I first saw it was that sheath.

Reason - That pancake sheath looks more like it was made for the 4" Sable III. Which was more commonly used for the 4" models (Shadow III, Aviator, Mountaineer I, Early Dagger 4" , Tanto III) as well as the standard wrap around sheaths. I have only seen one other pancake sheath that would accommodate a 5.5" CRK blade and it was made custom by another sheath maker, not John Leth.

So, if the pancake sheath was not made for that 5.5" Sable IV (4) that would lesson the value, somewhat.:(

Also, did it come with the original box and B-day card? that also adds much value to that knife.

Can you take a pic with the knife in the sheath and measure the blade and tell me if you have the box and card for a rough current value of that fine piece of history.

Thanks Jules for the information. It has been awhile since I was into CRK knives and didn't realize it is a Sable not a Shadow, I was only going off of what the seller said. It is a Sable III, it has a 4" blade and is 8.25" long overall. I think the sheath is made for the Sable III and has "made in South Africa" on the back. The knife looks to be unused, but the cap does have the paint chipped in a few places. Unfortunately, there was no box or data card. I'll take a picture of the knife in the sheath when I get home tonight and see if the sheath is the correct size.
