I have bought one CRK fixed blade knife, back in 2004. Has CRK maintained its qualirty over the years? Arte they as good today as they were twenty years back, model for model? Are they better than before?

They’re still top quality knives with top quality customer service. But as mentioned above their prices have recently gone up with the times unfortunately but you get what you pay for. If you’re considering it, buy with confidence.

Still top notch. There are many who wish the old man was still in charge, the design of the Sebenza (31) didn't change at all, and Hershey's cost a nickel; and I don't necessarily disagree with them. However, time moves on, and whatayagonnado? I wish my grandmother was still here to make the fried chicken, but I still love fried chicken ;)

I have just the one, a Sebbie 21, bought 11 years ago and still as solid as brand new. CBC machining has meant a lot of knives now are just as precisely made as CRKs, but they still are the top standard for me.

I have Mnandi's from over a 10-year span. Quality is same IMO but later ones are easier to open one-handed using the nail nicks.

Obligatory photo: If I recall, the blonde Box Elder is 10 years old, and the newest is on the far right with the see-through nail nick.IMG_2685.JPG

I have a 10 year old Sebenza 21, a more recent 31, and a bunch of other CRK folders in between. The quality across the board is fantastic. There were a few small upgrades to the 31 from the 21. I bought the 31 I did because it shares my birthday, but I have ended up really loving it. CRK is my favorite brand and is represented more than any other in my collection. I have Grimsmo, Koenig, ZT, Hinderer, Spyderco, and Benchmade represented, but nothing beats the CRK for me.

I believ the fixed blade CRK of 2004 are no longer made. If my memory is correct, the guy who did the initial grinding went out of business and Chris didn't have a replacement. The knives made now are from flat stock.

It was just this year I got into CRKs.

Sebenza 31: Large and Small.

Large: Boomerang Damascus.

Small: CPM S45VN, Black Canvas Micarta.

With confidence, use them both!

I like the older models, but can' t say they were better made.CRK has always had good quality control. More flawed knives may exist today, but likely just relative to the greatly increased volume of knives they now produce.
