Chris Reeve Knives

I'm pretty sure CRK knives have pretty long waiting lists. Others might know better first hand how long is the expected wait.
Maybe you should've got one from a dealer that you'll know that they'll have them on hand or not.

I imagine that new contract for the military has pretty much taken all their time.

Two weeks turned into two months for me. As I was waiting on my first Sebenza, it was worth it! That was two months ago, and I don't suspect it will get much better anytime soon. Remember, patience is a virtue.:D

We tell our customers that out of stock Chris Reeve knives take a MINIMUM of 6 to 8 weeks.

My Sebenza took all of about 10 minutes! Yep, dealer showcase. I had a lot of them to chose from too.

I see nothing wrong in off the shelve stock!

Zombie hunter- Welcome to the forums, I am assuming since you think 8 weeks is "incredibly slow" you are a newbie to small shop or custom orders too. :)
Seriously, it is bad if they say 2 and it is now 8, there is no good excuse for this. But this appears to be the norm for in-demand knifes in the knife world for better or worse. There are also far worse stories of delays! Not to minimize your dissatisfaction- more to say, "Welcom to the club" :)

waiting is definately the hardest part. i dont consider 6 months a long wait at all. i collect slip joints and the top 3 makers have at least a 2 year wait, probably longer. i have gone through a broker in the past and paid a premium to get a knife earlier. there is no free lunch you can pay now or wait. by the way, should have a month or two left on my sebbie order. now i'm anxious again. hurry up chris.

Jared, you placed your order for a Shadow IV with single cross guard around June 17 (at least that is the date it was entered into the computer). When Bridget emailed you confirming that your payment had been received, she gave you an approximate delivery of 2-4 weeks.

Your order was received just days after a batch of Shadows has been completed, and it also happened to be just days before we received the order from Special Operations Command for over 300 Yarborough knives that required a ship date of August 14. To say that this [wonderful] order from the Army caused havoc with our one piece knife production is putting it mildly :) but we did not get too far behind. Your knife shipped on August 13 and should be delivered today.

Sorry you are disappointed -
Anne

I had just the opposite problem.

I ordered a Mnandi with a special inlay material.

I was told 8-10 weeks.

It showed up in 5 weeks, before I had gotten the cash together to pay for it. :p

Jared,

I found the last part of your original post to most interesting. You want it so bad because you know of Chris Reeve quality and reputation.

Remember, anticipation elevates the joy of the final outcome! ;)

I have an order for Busse that I have been waiting for since February!!

When it arrives, OH BOY!!! :D

You know when your knife arrives, all disappointment will be gone!

:)

Hi jared and welcome to the forums

I am pretty sure you are going to love your knife when you receive it, and i am sure everybody here is going to want to hear your thoughts on the quality of your new knife. i would not feel dissapointed by your little wait considering the ship dates for a custom piece such as a small wood inlay, i for example waited a year for my box elder. Plus i am positive everybody on this forum will agree with me you would have to search eztremly hard to find a company which will bend over backwards to please their customers, i seriously doubt you would find one.

Hi Anne,
I received my Shadow IV yesterday and it is awesome. Many thanks. I think I just jumped the gun, see I've been getting the run around by so many knife makers, knife dealers etc., one told me he'd have it done "tomorrow" which of course is going on monthes at this point. I'm going out of my mind! But your company has proved to be quite different, very polit and professional. It is a great knife, and of course you were all right, it was worth the wait.

Thanks again,
zombiehunter
