Chris Reeve, MT Collaboration?

I just got the October issue of Blade and noticed in the MT article Mr. Marfione mentions a possible collaboration with Chris Reeve. If you wanna check it out it's on p.114, first paragraph.

So, can anyone tell us anything about it, or does anyone have any wild conjectures as to what this might be about?

Imagine a black, more tactical ti-handled, monolocked, Sebbie, with Tritium (throw Carbon Fiber insets into the mix for the heck of it)! Can we ask for any more?

I find that news really surprising for two reasons. #1 There has been talk of a CRK/Spyderco collaboration several times in the Spyderco forum and each time Sal has said that Chris had little time for a collaboration and was busy enough supplying the world with Sebenza`s, Umfaan`s, et al. #2 Mr Reeves views on autos is widely known to be less than enthusiastic! I can`t imagine that he`d be collaborating with MT, the king of production auto manufacturers!

This may be a question that you should post on the Chris Reeve manufacturers forum. Maybe the moderator could help you with your inquiry.
 
Where did you hear about the collaboration? Maybe it was a slight twisting of the fact that early in the history of Microtech, Chris Reeve did forge some blade for Tony Marfione. Reeve mentioned this on the CRK forum. Check the archives.
 
I also read the Blade piece, and Chris Reeve mentioned a new project coming up in a recent thread on his forum. He might just be doing some more blades for Microtech, or maybe something more involved. I guess we'll have to wait and see...

Well, I'm sure you guys already know that CRK has been doing the stone-washing on MT's blades...but now I believe MT has their own stone-washing machine.

MT is also sending Damascus blades to Chris to be Hot Blued[/b]- i.e. Dam CFO II blades.

Just thought I'd post the quote for everyone here:

"Though details of the agreement are still under wraps, Marfione said a collaboration between Microtech and Chris Reeve is expected to materialize in the near future." Get whatever you want out of that.

This all came after the talking about the collaboration effort between MT and Greg Lightfoot. Personally, I can't see Reeve giving a knife design like the Sebenza to MT to remake. Reeves are a more classic design, while MT's strike me as more tactical. Look and compare a Sebenza to a MT Vector; they're complete polar opposites, IMHO.
