Chris Reeve or three other knives?

I am in the painstaking process of selecting a new EDC and continue to come across rave reviews of Chris Reeve knives. My question is this: Are CRK nice enough to warrant putting off three other purchases (BM 745, Kershaw Nakamura, Spyderco Kopa) at least for awhile?

Also, do forum members prefer the Mnandi (is it a one handed opener?) or the Sebenza?

I think it depends. For instance I have way too many production folders, so at this point I rather save up and wait to get a higher end knife- I just got a Case Tony Bose that was well worth the wait and expense. At the same time accumulating lots of cool knives, like those you mentioned, is a lot of fun.

Simple answer to your first question is YES, however,,,

Your second question,,,,,,all a matter of different opinions.

To answer your third question, It can be opened one handed.

I also prefer quality over quantity. And YES, the Sebenza IS very much worth putting off other purchases. Also, the Mnandi CAN be opened one handed as well. I prefer the small Sebbie for EDC, and the Mnandi fgor steppin' out.

I was in a similar situation a few years back before I got my first Sebenza, my experience was buy the other knives first and spend the next six months (or however long it takes) saving money and wishing you had the seb, or buy the seb first and then realize you have forgotten that there are any other types of knives:D I did the first and will never make that mistake again. Once you get a CRK you'll probably want to sell a few of your other knives to buy another seb anyway.....I did;)

I will take quality over quantity every time. Get the Sebby if you got the cash.

I would have to agree with my good friend Mr. Wylie... Sebenza is a fever that can't be remedied.

My girlfriend says she's buying me one as a wedding present, and I'm going to hold her to it. Now, I've got to pick a good one, do Sebenza's come in Damascus?

Sebenza all the way...
Ryan

I would take the Sebenza over the Mnandi.

But, that said...I have 3 other EDC pocket knives...all of them retail over $200...none of them is a Sebenza. :(

i have bought a few other folders after the Sebenza(large regular), but i still generally only carry the Sebenza when i leave the house

the Mnandi opens one-handed, and with either hand, i believe as well. i'm going to have to pick one up eventually

well most of us dont carry more then three knives at a time (some may but there is nothing wrong with that either) so you have to ask yourself if you want to carry one good knife and rotate or one really good knife and carry for everyday. My next knife purchase will be a sebenza or a hinderer of something of that quality.

The three knives you listed are good....... i have the BM 740 and almost got the Kopa but have not handled the nakamura....... Chris Reeve knives are really as good as people say they are. I prefer the sebenza the the mnadi but that is because the sebenza is more of a worker knife, while the mnandi is more of a 'nicer' gentlmans knife that is also good for using

FliGuyRyan.... i keep running into you...... yes the sebenzas come in damascus both of the high contrast 1095/nickle steel kind which shows the pattern a little more but is more for show and the ss kind which is a good user..... There is currently a 9 month wait on the damascus from Chris Reeve though
