I was at a friends the other day and he pulled this out of the safe. It was INCREDIBLE, does anybody have any information or input? I've never even heard of anything like this in existance? This is everything he gave me for information as we measured and talked about how he obtained it.
Chris Reeve Short Sword
#10/11 first 10 were double edged short swords, 11 was a wakizashi. Blade length is 16inches, 2 inch slab, 3/8" wide
handle: 10" long from hilt to guard.
looks like 3inch billit then milled, hand grinded the blade
hollow handle, tool steel material D-2 or D-1?
alluminum screw in at end of handle with O-Ring
Handle diameter ~1.5"
Typical Chris Reeve charcoal grey handle.
Leather Sheath with Chris Reeve stamp w/ belt loop 8".
Made by Chris Reeve while he was still in South Africa Stamped on one side
DR Logo stamped on other side
2 1/4" wide blade
Double hollow ground
total length 27 1/4" Tip of blade until end of hilt
I would like any input on this sword to give to him and of my own curiosity...He said Chris Reeve would never make another one due to the difficulty in making a perfect double edged blade of this length. He said he was considering putting it on eBay because he's not in the whole martial arts thing anymore, I called him insane if this truly an original. Next time i'm over there i'll get some pictures...he even said he had an original brochure Chris gave to him with the specifications.
