Chris Reeve = Rolex of Knives

So first post but long time collector. I've tried many brands including strider and william henry. To me chris reeve is the perfect combo. William Henry has very detailed knives and the craftsmanship is excellent but the tolerances are not perfect. They are a little too much of a gentleman's knife for me to use as a EDC. Striders are great but the finishes are not consistent and it may be a little too rugged for an EDC. Chris Reeve is the perfect in-between. They remind me of Rolex as they have standard models vs a ton of limited editions or variations and the finish and tolerances are as good as they get. That being said even rolex has a few limited edition models each year. Does Chris Reeve have limited editions and damascas blade versions and if so how does the average collector learn of these vs just checking the retailer web sites. Can I sign up for a news letter that tells me what is coming out? william henry emails me whenever new knives are coming out which is frequently. I don't need the frequent email but a few a year would be nice. Thanks

Very nice bluesummers. I had a few omegas which are very nice but in the end i gravitated toward rolex. is the second pic a star-benza? Large or small?

Thanks kreole. I guess I wasn't original but it still true. Your link put it best. So when did the crk forum get started? Seems like the links are recent.

Shouldn't matter to you whether or not I wear my watches or use my knives.
+1. A lot of folks who frequent BF are of the opinion that if you don't use your knives, you've got no reason to live. But as far as I'm concerned, what you do or don't do with your knives is nobody's business but yours. And I've learned to simply disregard slurs to the contrary from the peanut gallery.

PS: I own a Rolex Stainless Datejust circa 1964 and a Small Ironwood Sebenza born this year. For me the combination is just right. I wouldn't have any problem marrying my Rolex to my E6 William Henry, but the Sebenza inspires a little more confidence. No knock on the William Henry, though. It's as light as a feather and cuts like a laser.

I think the biggest issue is that people tend to HYPE up how good some knives are and they are still NIB basically when they are talking about them ect. One really can't comment on performance or much of anything else about any knife unless they have really used it for more than a flip toy, pocket ornament or maybe opened a bag a chips. In other words they personally have no idea how good that said knife is or isn't because they have never used it or if it's really any better than a $5 gas station knife or a knife with a pot metal blade. There is no way possible they can know, and their comments are based on what.... Assumptions, HYPE, perception, some post they read someplace? And compared to what? Was that knife or those knives really used either?

Sure they can talk about fit and finish and how good it looks ect, but that's really about it and that doesn't have anything to do with performance at all.

If they are going to talk about anything to do with performance or how good it is that knife better have some user marks on it or they will likely get some flack.

There are also those who comment on knives they have never seen in real life, or even been in the same room with and talk about how good they are or aren't, lots of that going around..... Gotta love those parrots......

Kinda like the 4x4 that never sees mud or dirt, might as well be a Civic or a Smart Car.... Or that great looking car at a car show, does it run or will it even start? One really doesn't know unless they turn the key and find out. ;)

I could care less about watches, never could keep one in one piece for very long so I use my cell phone as my watch.

That said CRK makes some excellent knives and are very tough and perform extremely well.

Eee ahh, wouldn't like the Rolex reference if I was CRK. Now Omega or Breitling - Yes.
Mine and any/all of my buddies Rolexes just do not keep accurate time.
My Omega and Breitlings (especially the Omega) are very accurate.
Just sayin....:)

I have heard that too.....on this forum and others. I think owning a Rolex is just a status thing.
