The picture below is of a knife I saw this morning in my LGS. The tag says it's a Chris Reeve Pacific Survival Knife. There are no maker marks anywhere on it. Could this be a fake? Are there even "fake" Chris Reeve knives out there?

Plenty of fake CRK's out there. Mostly seem to be fake Sebenzas, not sure about the Pacific.

I've linked below to the Pacific on CRK's website. On there, there are markings on both sides. The CRK logo and Harsey signature on one side and Idaho Made on the other.

On the one that you photographed, there's a lack of coating. The finger guard contours look rounded rather than slightly angular. The serrations look different and are longer and more spread out.

I'm not an expert so it could just be an older model or it could be fake, don't know.

I'd ask a mod and see if they would move this to the Chris Reeve Forum on here as you will probably get quicker and accurate responses.

I would ask for it to be moved but I don't know how. I spoke to the former owner of the knife. He said it was damaged by water and was bead-blasted and that was how the marks must have come off. I don't know if it believe that or not. The CR knives I've seen online are pretty deeply marked. The grip even has more hash-marks than any I've seen. The blade is hollow ground. I don't know...

I will move this to the CRK forum. You can ask by clicking on the triangle icon in the lower left of a post, but this one's on me. :)

About as fake as it can get..

It's a Schrade Extreme Survival #SCHF3. Not a fake but uses the CRK Pacific as "inspiration". Also available in a non-serrated straight blade version #SCHF3N. Check Amazon and YouTube for reviews. Not a bad knife for the cost, around $40. The one shown has had the coating and markings stripped.

I'll bet this guy at the gun show knew it was a Schrade and was just trying to rip someone off by saying (knowingly lying) that it was a CRK Pacific, trying to make some $$ quick. And probably had another 10 ready to go behind the counter. Must have had some success doing this at other gun shows.

By LGS I meant Local Gun Shop... But Thank You Soooo Much for knowing what it is!!! The owner of the shop is a pretty good friend of mine and has no idea what it is. He actually called the owner and put me on the phone with him the other day. The guy told me it was from a veteran's estate and the original sheath was destroyed and replaced with the one you can partially see in the picture. He was asking $175.00 which would have been a great price for a Chris Reeve but obviously waayyy too much for a Schrade.

Well, there's one more lie that guy on the phone told you. That IS the original sheath for the Schrade. (so baloney about it being destroyed...) It's just missing the paracord that went with it. The knife w/ sheath maybe worth $30 in that used condition. If he asks more than that then just buy a new one on Amazon or Ebay or wherever. Glad you didn't jump on it and decided to ask about it here first. And just serendipity that I was looking here the other day. I was researching about fake CRKs on Ebay.
