Hey there Knuts.

I'm looking for a nice fixed blade to take hunting and I really like the look of some of Chris' work.

I have a question about his hollow handles though.
I know that his are made out of a single piece of steel but how tough are they? Would you bet your life on one?
Are all of his fixed blades hollow handle designs?

I really like the look of the Nkonka and also the Sable I & IV.
Owning one of those would mean I could leave the RAT-5 in the 4WD for backup.

Thanks again guys

I would suggest that you take a look at the Chris Reeve section that we have here; it is under Manufactuerers.
No, not all CRK are hollow handled.
And yes, I WOULD be my life on one of his knives.

A2 steel. Very tough. I bet my life on one everyday. It's not much of a bet, though. There's very little risk of any of his one piece knives failing. Yes, he also produces a "Green Beret" model which does not have a hollow handle. It's probably not a tough and his one piece models since he uses S30V steel for the Green Beret, but it's tough enough.

CRK hollow handle knives are the only ones with a good reputation, and it's sterling. I've never heard of a failure - looking over the design and cutaways over the years shows an engineered transition in blade cross section to handle that simply doesn't get weak from insufficient material. He overbuilt it to make sure no one would ever break it.
