Good morning everyone

I have been wanting a Chris Reeves Sebenza for a long time now. At first I got real excited on eBay I found a Sebenza 21 for $55. After getting over the excitement I realized this must be a fake or something. that Ebayer had 14 of them and they appeared to be made in China. Has anyone seen this type of ad and I'm sure I'm correct they are fakes.

Roger

Lots of 'em.

If you only care about a Sebenza-looking knife with a CR on it, then you can buy one for just about any price on flea bay or you-name-it website.

If you want a genuine Chris Reeve Sebenza, pay at least $300.00 for a used one, at least $400.00 for a new one, and buy one from a known good source. Buyer beware anywhere else.

Remember that if it seems to good to be true it probably is:) I would check the exchange, good deals will pop up you just have to be on the lookout.
Avoid the fakes because that just encourages those slimeballs to keep making them.

Too cheap=fake
China= fake
Like= fake
These are the easy to determine fakes some are harder
I am afraid you are going to have to spend real money to get a real Sebenza. I would suggest looking on the BF exchange or from a respected dealer. The exchange does have some good deals come up.

I am definitely looking for a authentic Sebenza. I have been looking at Knifeart.com. I believe they are a authorized dealer and they could be trusted.

Knifeart is GTG IMO. I have purchased from them. There are many other fine dealers as well, but dealer prices are pretty steady so that won't factor in much if at all.

Sadly, there are alot of Fakes out there. Some horribly done, while others can pass for original. Just by lurking around here and some of the CRK FB groups, you can educate yourself and learn how to spot them and what to look for. If unsure, you can ALWAYS ask as someone here will be more than happy to help you out.

I bought my first Sebenza from Knifeart back in 1999 - they were a pleasure to deal with.

It's good to just go with an authorized dealer. If you want a little bit of a deal go to the exchange. However sebenzas seem to keep their value pretty well so finding a huge deal on something brand new isn't always easy.

You're only going to be sorry that you waited to see what the fuss is all about! Merry Christmas you!

I guess it's already been said, but just two points;

Support legit knife dealers, they support this hobby.

If you are going to spend the amount of $ required to purchase maybe the finest knife ever made, it just makes sense to get it directly from an authorized dealer, or if you are looking for a used one, from a forum full of enthusiasts.

See the CRK section in the exchange.

Never understood the praise knifeart gets, only ever had snobby responses from any questions i've ever asked in email, like they're too busy or too special to entertain any small request. I'll never spend a single cent with them. A good friend of mine has had the same terrible attitude from their staff.

I've only bought one knife from them, but get the same vibe. Had a real horrible response to a simple question, not going back there.

I had a similar experience, when the carbon fiber slab insingo was first introduced I missed the first batch... I called knife art with a question and Larry (Connelly?) answered. He was short and rude and told me next time I called to place an order. I've never called back and will seek business elsewhere
