Chris@SOG please answer

Well there are many reasons a knife gets cut from production. In this case I think it was that the cost of the knife was getting to be quite high and the sales had dropped off to a point where it was not economical to continue to produce the S-1. Trust me it was a very difficult decision to come to and we discussed it for many months before finally deciding it was time to move on. I know that this decision does not make many people happy and still others are questioning it but if the knife sold better it would have been an easy argument to keep it in the line.

I hope this helps explain why we discontinued the S-1.

Discontinued the S1?
Wasn't that the flagship model??!
This so reminds me of a Japanese word, let's see now, was it harakiri?
Or just plain seppuku...

If it wasnt selling you dont sell so many, big deal. You should have kept that knife and shipped it with a Randall model #1 style high quality sheath, maybe even from sullivans themself! Sog must be hurting to drop the flagship model.

IMO your knives arent that bad. The problem is the sheaths. Who buys your knives? People that plan to use them in the outdoors is who. Design a knife like a busse satin jack tac or anything bushcraft friendly. When your thinking of the steel to use, when the guy that always recomends AUS-6 speaks up you simply pull out the ole ducttape and apply a small amount to his mouth. Then you suggest 0-1 or 1095 or SK-5 with your TiNi coating and a nice micarta handle. Then put it in a full grain leather sheath made by a nice leather shop. You dont price this one out of reach and you have a knife! I would buy 5. You wouldnt be able to keep em in stock. If anyone actually says that this wouldnt sell doesnt know knives.

I am very sad to see the Scuba demo, the recon bowie, S-1 and tigershark be discontinued.

I have a scuba/demo one but would like to have, one day, purchased the other two for my collection, I feel like the recon bowie is kind of like a classic Sog, to me.

I am sad to see these go, as you bring all of this fusion crap into the mix. Throwing knives and spikes?!?!? Leave that junk to Cold steel IMO. But I guess you have to stay competative, bringing out new things or whatever.

Anyway, sad to see some of these knives go..

Did I need a Tigershark?
NO.
Do I want a Tigershark?
Hell yes.
