Does anyone have any experience with this maker ?

As far as historical weapons go, I've drifted from swords and have taken an interest in axes, hammers and maces. However, seeing as swords are much more popular I'm wondering if any of the sword enthusiasts can comment on his work in general.

BTW His "Infantry" line of swords seem to be well priced.

Judging from the appearance and website copy I'd say that this guy is something like the folks at sabersmith. There pieces don't really bear any resemblance to anything remotely historically accurate (to be fair they don't claim to) I'd expect that the weights on these pieces is also excessive but since they don't list them I couldn't say for sure. There is one battle axe that lists out at a whopping 20 lbs. Not my cup of tea at all, but there are people that are into fantasy stuff. If they can make a living at it more power to them.

Price range and historical range of what you're looking for? Then post also either to Swordforum or Axeforum.

Good luck. I'd recommend staying well under 10 lbs for two handed axes (depending on size of course). Good luck.

I don't really care all that much if the weapons I'm looking for are historically accurate, as long as they are functional. I don't plan on going to battle with a mace or anything anytime soon, but I don't like things that can only sit and look pretty. Plus, I think it would be fun to play around with a mace or a battle axe. I have plenty of strength and am trained in unarmed and knife combatives.

I am registered over at swordforum.com but had no idea an axe forum even existed.

I've seen what armor.com and Lutel have to offer and I was going to go with the High Gothic Mace from Armor, but the dowl pin mace from customswords.com looked pretty cool and was also more affordable.

strictly speaking that's why we prefer historical standards.. because they're truly functional and not stupid light whippy crap for competition or ridculously heavy stuff that's really nigh impossible to wield effectively.

I don't care how strong you are, take a 20 lb weightlifting bar and swing it around for 10 min :D. An axe of that weight would be even more forward balanced....

What's your price range? Or are you still undecided? There's at least several threads on choosing axes or maces at SFI...

I'm not disputing the fact that too heavy a hammer/mace is ineffective. My sledgehammer training lets me know that how hard it is to handle such weight everytime. I only mentioned my strength level initially to explain why I thought I would enjoy mace/axe/hammer training.

As far as price range goes, I'd say around $300 and under.

Here you go.

Christian Michael's swords I heard handle like sharpned crowbars. Not really what you'd want balance wise. If you don't want to spend that much I'd say go with windlass steelcrafts. The reviews on their swords are somewhat spotty, but your not out that if its not up to snuff.

No problem!
You should register for the axe-forum. We always look forward to welcoming new members!
