From my sweetie for Christmas-there was a little khukuri shuffling that Auntie was kind enough to arrange:

15" AK, very nice grip cross section-almost Japanese in the way it indexes the edge...
Can't quite figure out the kami mark:

Any guesses?
All in all, I think this is my new do-everything khuk.

Looks like an eye like Dhan.

I agree on the eye. Not nuts about the connect the dot kami marks myself but I still like em.

Very nice, yeah that's a dhan bahadur I think that's how it's spelt. I've got 2 from him, no hammer marks in his blades, even in his DBVUK

My two Dhan Gopte knives are flawless, the handles need a bit of sanding but that's personal taste.

Definitely a Dhan Bahadur. He does the handle rings a bit different from the other kamis. Looks good!

Nice one, how much does it weigh, since you called it a "do-everything" knife, I guess not too much?

(Still can't get over the fact that among all knives, only a kukri can be considered small at 15" :). I just have a feeling they hit the sweet spot as "pound for pound" usability kings.)

22 ounces, and it's actually 16" (I may shorten the grip a bit-there's plenty of it). I didn't necessarily mean I was gonna EDC the thing...I tend to use bolos or khuks a lot when i camp or hike.
It probably will follow me around and live in whatever rig I'm driving though.

Ah, got it, wasn't sure if EDC-ing or not. That's a nice knife, and sweet weight. Wishing you'll get a lifetime of use out of this fine piece, in good health (this is kind of a...regional saying, when you get something nice people wish you to be able to enjoy it while being healthy; not sure if it has an equivalent in US).

Thank you-that is an excellent saying. It is a nice weight-I tend to like them light, both for use and so they don't pull my pants down lol-but I was suprised that it was 22. Feels more like 18.

Nothing like EDCing a khuk, I have been carrying my Sher Special since the day it came, completely removed the Bk7 from edc belt duty.

I have been carrying a clone I made of a 19th century partial tang khuk in a shoulder rig now and then, especially at shows...but it does make folks give you the stinkeye if they see it...

If you're carrying it at a show and they give you the stinkeye, well my friend, they're at the wrong show. :D

Oh, no haha. Regular people, not show people...although everybody is pretty suprised because I'm not a big dude and 16" of khuk disappears under a dickies short sleeve work shirt...

Nice AK Jim. Makes me miss my Rajkumar. I gave one to my son in law but at least i have visitation rights to it:D !6" is a really nice length. Dhan makes some nice stuff. HI did good getting him for sure.

Wow. I love Yangdu, H.I. and all the kamis, but in my opinion they really should drop the electro pencil/pin mark kami marks and go back to the older, more artful carved ones.
