I've been looking for a good anvil for over a year with no luck. Every one I looked at was either over-priced, beat to hell, or both. I saw this ad on craigslist for a complete farrier setup. I didn;t call at first since the ad said he wanted to sell everything together if possible. So after a week, i emailed him for pics of the anvil, it's a 70 pound NC Tool Big face and came with a farrier's stand for $250. and teh guy delivered it to my house. Probbably not as good a deal as Carl_first_Timer's Burr King, but I'm happy.

In pretty good shape, I think

There is a firewood place near here; I'm going by there tomorrow and see if i can get a big cut of oak to put it on; the stand is nice but noisy as hell

Nice score, that is a good price for the whole kit. You'll use that filing vice more then you think you will LOL. I have the same stand but mine is the portable folding legs one.

Now let's see some hot metal hammerin!

I can't wait til I can get a decent deal on an anvil. Some jackwagon around my area keeps buying up all the good anvils and jacking the prices up then posting for sale again. :(

It also looks like a relly good way to mash the crap out of your fingers too. LOL

Same thing happens around here 90% of the time. Dont even get me started about the time I've wasted at estate auctions waiting on an anvil to come up and then watch it go for stupid money.

Good find. Yep anvils are definitely harder to come by these days. Freaking collectors are buying them up and driving the prices out the roof. I mean really, why would someone collect anvils, they are meant to be used not looked at. People..

Here is a 1905 Fisher 120lb anvil that I picked up a few years ago. I only paid $120 and got a electric blower and nice 2 lb cross peen with it as well (the one hanging on the right of the stand). The reason for the low price is that it is missing about one inch of the heal that broke off at the pritchel hole. It is somewhat of in inconvenience but for the price I don't mind.

I built my stand out of 2x12's and screwed each piece together which has worked well. I probably put 2 lbs of screws in it.:D I did not need to attach the anvil to the stand because it has little round feet at each corner which sit in little holes in the stand.
