I received belated Christmas gifts today - a BK10 Crewman and a sand camo BK7. I haven't field tested them yet, but I have a few initial comments.
Both arrived well greased with VERY sharp factory edges. The Crewman is a real pitbull: compact and stout. It'll make an excellent backcountry rescue/utility knife. It's going into my gearbag when I return to work on Monday. The Combat Utility has a more appealing profile due to the longer swedge. That one's going in my truck.
The sand camo sheath fabric appears to be more durable and water-resistant than the OD, but both are well made. The kydex liner in the sand camo sheath is very tight, enough to scuff the epoxy on the blade the very first time it was inserted and removed. The scuff doesn't bother me since the knife is a user, but it's so tight that it won't draw smoothly unless the bottom of the scabbard is tied down. Any advice on how to loosen it up a bit would be appreciated.
I read Cliff Stamp's test reviews on these knives prior to purchasing, and they held their own alongside others that cost many times more. Now that I've examined them for myself I have to agree that these knives are an excellent value.
