Okay folks, I got quite a treat and I thought I'd share the joy with y'all. I posted in another forum about what my ideal knife was. It came two mornings ago. This caught me off guard, Jerry Hossom had me convinced that it wouldn't be ready until February.

What a surprise

!!

Here it is:

It's a light, fast fighter with a 12.5 inch blade, black canvas micarta handles and Paul Bos treated ATS at 58 RC. Skull crusher pommel, razor sharp edge. Jerry said he could do this in A-2, but I wanted ATS.

So, I got to work making a carry rig for this out of Concealex. Here's the knife in an Spinal Back-up sheath designed for my blade rigger system ( www.bladerigger.com ).

Now, if that weren't enough, Jerry also sent a neck knife I ordered for my wife that I thought was still in the prototype stage. It's a great little neck knife, so I made a Concealex sheath for it:

Here it's pictured with the other side of the little horizontal belt sheath I made for it:

I really like my bowie, and my wife's really tickled with not only her knife but the sheaths I made for her. So grateful that she made me all sorts of homemade candy! Thanks for the surprise Jerry!

Waddaya think?

Matt,

You lucky, lucky dog you!!!

Jerry E-mailed me pics of your new Bowie before he sent it to you- to torture me, I think

Gary,

Blade Length: 12 5/8 inches.
Overall Length: 19 inches even.
Steel Thickness: Just shy of 1/4" probably 3/16"
Steel used: ATS-34 cryo by Paul Bos RC 58 intentionally drawn down from Rc61 to increase flexibility and improve impact resistance. (I could have gone with A-2, but I prefer ATS).
Handle material: Black Canvas Micarta
Weight: Just shy of 16 ounces. (Really freakin' light for a knife so large!)
Balance point: 1" above the bolster.

It is indeed pointy. Just the way I like 'em.

Mario,

You got to see it before I did? Wow. I'll try to do some testing over the next couple of weeks and I'll post a review when we come back from vacation.

Thanks for your interest guys. Jerry's knives are not only top-notch, but he's fun to work with and patient with anxious customers like me.

Yeah, Jerry swore me to secrecy because he wanted it to be a surprise. I did good at keeping the secret didn't I? And it was very hard, let me tell you. I think he wanted to show me the design changes he had made to the Bowie before he sent it off to you. And he was rightfully proud of the finished product and wanted to show it off a little. He got me drooling, that's for sure!

Jake,
Sorry, but my wife's the jealous type. It will stay in my box with the others tonight.

Continue with strength brothers in the HORDE.

Neil,
I tell ya, since I was a little kid I've always thought knifemakers and collectors are some of the finest people out there. You and Jerry certainly prove the rule!

Humpty and "Ornery when Muddy" I just love these blades too. May I enjoy them in my good health but to the lack of health of my enemies! (Which seem to strictly consist of air molecules so far, considering that's all I've cut with it.)
