Decided a while back that I was going to go out Christmas Day. This is only the second time I have hiked in snow.

It was actually quite warm at this point. I had to take my gloves off as my hands were getting too warm. However, I made a serious error in carrying my gloves as I dropped one, but fortunately noticed I had done so. I should have taken a moment to either place them in my jacket pocket or back in my pack. I did have a spare pair, but thats not the point.

My reward at the top, a cup of hot chocolate. Took about 4 goes with a firesteel to light the stove. I either get it first time or it takes a few.

I would like to wish everyone here at W&SS, a happy Xmas and New Year. Thank you for making this such a great place to hang out and learn.

Looks like it was a great day to hike! Always nice to have that hot cocoa or tea on a cold day. Merry Christmas!

Nice country out there! Enjoy that hot chocolate. It tastes so much better outside doesn't it?

Great pics man. Where are you in the UK? Looks a little like Kinder Scout! Mrs Pit spotted the Galaxy as it's her favourite - we have a fridge full that her parents send her from the UK.

Hi Pit and Mrs Pit

I was actually in Moel Famau Country Park, North Wales. The Galaxy pictured is a Galaxy hot chocolate powder sachet. Tastes much better brewed from fresh. Not quite the same from a flask.

That's something else Mrs Pit will be asking her parents to send over now !!!!:D

Great pics! I tried to talk my kids into going for a hike today, but they were captivated by their presents....

Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing the beautiful day! I'm glad you got out there in the beauty.
