So, what're the coolest gifts that people received or gave, and any really memorable moments or comments?

I got a lot of great outdoors stuff, a Bark River Knife and Tool Aurora (!!!!!!)  :D , and a nice gift card to a great outdoor store nearby. Might use it towards a small revolver--I'm not sure yet.

Also, my most notable gifts given include the Spiaggia Cookbook for my Dad (his passion is gourmet cooking. Works out well for all of us!), and managing to find my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years exactly what she wants without her telling me. I think that's a first, and I feel pretty cool!

All in all, I love this holiday--all about being with loved ones and enjoying each other's company, eating good food, and giving each other enjoyment in a ton of ways. Really getting back to what's truly important -- love and each other. I watched "It's a Wonderful Life" today with my family, as we do every year, and it never ceases to drive that point home.

So, how'd the big day go for everyone here?

Merry Post-Christmas, and my best wishes to everyone here,

Chris

Mine was a majorly Q Christmas.
A lg bag of Lazzarrie Mesquite lump, a lg bag of mesquite, a bottle of Apricot Chipotle marinade. The Tx Rub "kit" with Brisket, original, gloves,
and grilling spices. A copy of Smoke and Spice to replace the one I gave a friend going home to England. A copy of Barbacue Bible, Sauces Rubs and Marinades. All in anticipation of the arrival of my Party Gator, my family is as stoked as I am. I gave my lady a string of freshwater pearls, a pr of moccasins, and a pr of sexy heels. My son got a new bike, Lil Bit's son got new Roller blades. We have been a goin' since X-Mas eve, and have a road trip today to Pa..

I spent from Saturday through Monday with a stomach virus, so I didn't get together with my family. Didn't want to give it to anyone. The best gift I got was a note from my 16 year old granddaughter saying how much she missed me and how Christmas just wasn't the same without me there. :D

Got a cool gift....will be 6 months in the making...can't say what it is till I get it...but if/when I do..I will be sure to raise a stink about it here.

Merry Christmas to everybody!

I got the joy of seeing my five year girl ride around on her new ATV power wheels. She was still on it when i got home from work and woke me up this morning wanting to ride more.

a John Legend CD from the kids, cookbooks and adult bevies from the sibs, a nice Skagen watch from my beautiful bride, and a 8" shun classic damascus chef's knife from my mother in law. It is all wonderful, but the best part was being with those that I loved.

Mine is obvious. Merry Christmas Gentlemen!

I had an awesome Chirstmas. The wife and I got enough gift cards to Lowes to ALMOST purchase the new back door we have been wanting. Ya know, an actuak patio door that opens inward instead of sliding. Oh, and it has built in blinds so that my neighbors don't have to watch the Naked Parade every morning. We were going to put up curtains, but lack of modesty was so mych cheaper and easier.
I got a lot of leather supplies to full my hobby of making ugly rugged sheathes. The wife also got me a drill press so that I don't have any more excuses for crooked stitching.
The hands down COOLEST and most unexpected gift i got was from my in-laws. The brought me back (more like smuggled) something I can only describe as a seax from Ireland. It's really unique. About 17" total (at a guess). came with a really nice hand made seax style sheath. More of the swept down style tip instead of the broken tip like HI makes. Buttplate and bolster have Celtic scrollwork on them. He's the weird part. Although not sharpened, it has an edge on both sides of the blade:confused: My in-laws told me that they bought it in this little shop, and that it was hand-made. I was polite and went along with that story when i was SURE that it had to be an import or at least a tourist piece of junk. I checked it with a file. The edges are actually hard. There are even forging flaws at the edge. I think this could be a viable "real deal"...at a glance;) I'm going to etch it with muriatic acid at work tomorrow to see what it does. The only thing "wrong" with the whole rig is that there seems to be room in the handle for some more epoxy. A project for the weekend I think.

Merry Christmas:)

We have had a busy, but very pleasant few days in preparation of feeding 13 people. Most memorable, my brother in law who is a very picky eater said Christmas Day dinner was the best he had ever eaten. A fine and appreciated compliment from him. Another family member said 'where can you go and get a real chef cook your dinner for free'? I guess he missed the stocking on the wall and the sign asking for donations :>)

My daughter in England bought me a mixed box of spices. They are really nice. I use spices and herbs a lot so they will get plenty of use. They are like the little pots that fit into a triangular box. I always thought that was a much better idea than McCormick screw-top jars where you have to remove the inner sprinkler to get a reasonable amount out. My wife got me a new Peugeot pepper mill, a new type with a 5 position base for grind size, a food thermometer, and a timer. Another friend sent me some saffron, so it was very much a foodie Christmas. We have just had a second Christmas day dinner with our widowed friend Margaret which was most enjoyable. There is still enough turkey, potatoes and veg left for turkey sandwiches and dinner tomorrow! I really enjoyed my much maligned Paxo, packet stuffing with orange and cranberries, and my wife made hers from fresh. We used dried Sage that was sent to me by a friend in England. I ate my 'Ultimate Turkey Sandwich' at lunchtime and am already looking forward to tomorrow lunch.

I was also given some socks, which I do need and a Pet Shop Boys CD which I am listening to now.

Drove 10 of the last 36 hours. Spent time at Dad's place in the East Bay, brought him down San jose for Christmas with the in laws. A good time. Past around some good wine & a couple of nice Mcuestas were shown off by two of my wife's uncles.
The HI BAS I gave to one of my best friends was an absolute hit. I haven't had the chance to pass the Karda along to mi other homey yet. Got to spend some quality time with some of the right people in the last few.
Just had a proper rain squall pass through. The year is ending:cool: .

I recieved a Bradley Mayhem Balisong, two Douks, two Emerson T-Shirts, one Szabo shirt, a Crook Hook, and a Captains of Crush #2 hand exerciser. As well as a will whoop butt MP3 thingie. (Mrs. Santa either didn't get around to hearing how bad I was or decided she kinda liked me that way.)

Something that's just plain neat is that the company I'm contracted to (British Petroleum) gave all two hundred some odd of us hands each an ipod that holds 20,000 songs. Sometimes it aint so bad on the dark side...:D

I gave my wife a hand blown glass vase, and a limited edition Benchmade 635. She gave out some of the most beautiful dream catchers I've ever seen that she made herself. The votes are unanimous. We all think she should sell them.

we gave my father a Fallkniven TK4 folding knife, my brother some cut agate coasters, and my mother and her father and sister each a dream catcher.

The boy got a PSP, clothes, some really cool airplane and tank books, and a Frost Mora.

The cat got a bag of toys and treats and Jessie the terrible got a large toy tire that's already pretty well done for.

In closing I also brought home a case of the North Slope creeping crud on Christmas Eve. that's alright though. I'd much rather be home on Christmas day with the crud than at work.:D

Best of all was a day spent with loved ones, especially after a long and difficult hitch. Helps a guy to figure out his priorities.....

I hope all of y'alls Christmas was at least as wonderful as ours!

The best gift I got was a note from my 16 year old granddaughter saying how much she missed me and how Christmas just wasn't the same without me there.

Hard to beat that one Steve:thumbup: :)

Sorry you were sick and solo over the holiday:(

My wife got me a good quality rain parka (5X is tough to find). After 42 years the gal is still trying to keep me warm and dry, and moans about my wearing moccasins 365 unless barefootin' :D

Yeah, me too. My wife and I both had bad stomach viruses for two days. I still feel like crap. Felt bad for my 15yo son who got a lot of stuff but couldn't go to his cousins for XMas dinner and playing new video games with his cousins. Also, ruined days off from work. It was pretty funny (wish I had a video) of me being outside in my yard in pajamas and slippers, puking my guts out and loudly retching because I didn't want to do it inside. Must have impressed the neighbors ("that damn drunk bustards at it again")

To add insult to injury, being too tired and weak to get off the couch, I gambled on a fart. I lost the bet :(
