Christmas early SHBA

Got this fatty on Thursday. SHBA, fatty A2. Close enough to 5/16" to call it one. My first impression was how heavy it was. Almost a full pound, over 14 ozs. I can't believe, given how old it is, that it is in such mint condition. Holding this knife makes one want to use it badly. So the fact that no one did amazes and pleases me to no end, cause I'm sure going too. Can't bring myself to keep it as a safe queen. Thickness of the steel is one thing but the micarta is equally thick and contuored to fill my hands nicely. The palm swell and shape of this handle is equal to my HOFSH with Mag slabs. The smooth texture of the micarta is really nice also. Your fingers fit so tightly into the handle that control of the knife is greatly increased without having to have it be oversized. The handle is much smaller in width than my BAe. To put it simply, this SHBA is flat out very cool. Came with the orginal Eagle sheath, which is also in mint condition. Hope you enjoy the pics. :D

Man, that is an awesome looking knife! Can't believe how thick the blade is. Serious chunk o' steel.

 Congrats Solstice- that looks like a great knife! Enjoy! -and thanks for the really nice pics!

Naw, you really don't want to make a safe queen out of it. The more you carry/use it the more you appreciate it. I know I do mine. It's SUPPOSED to be part of the EDC rotation along with a AD and MS, but the fact of the matter is, the AD and the MS might make it on to the belt for a few days or week every other month or 2. The fatty SHBA get's over 90% of the belt time.

BTW, Dwayne told me he can get his A2 fatty sharper than INFI.

I don't know, I'm still working on my sharpening skills.

ENJOY!!!!

Thanks guys, if I can only put it down for awhile it would make getting ready to go to up to visit my folks a lot easier! :D My dad is going to get a kick out this SHBA. Looking forward to sharing it with the man who got me into collecting knives.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of ya Hogs.... and us Piglets! :D

Great pics Solstice and what a great knife. That thing is a Beast and it sure is purty. I like the look of the older, smooth, non-crinkle finish. Whatever you do.... DONT drop it on your foot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on finally finding a Fatty BA! I think me and Wet gotcha hooked now eh? heh heh heh. :D

Seriously, dont drop that thing on your foot! Even a hit from the non sharp side will cause severe trauma.

Thanks for the pics. it´s great, i want one too.

Is this the first BA that was making by Busse?

Thanks Dwayne, I'll keep that it mind when I flipping it around, as I find myself doing often. It's a little awkard to do actually, not as easy as the BAe. Darn thing is way heavy and keeps wanting to follow through on the swing.

Yeah between you and Wetdog, I'll be trying to get em all! These babies rock. I'm thinking A2 SHSH next!

Hey BTW Dwayne.... Wetdog spilled the beans, says you got a fatty like this and makin a sheath might be possible without having to send my precious out to ya. What'd say leatherman, can you fix me up with something? Email me bro, I got a serious itch for more of your custom cowhide! ;)

Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas. :D

Man, you bet! now, I always remove it from the sheath when I'm changing pants. It happened once and I was quick, once. Not going to go for a second go round. If I'm wearing the same pants, I just grab the knife and sheath to pull the pants up.

Set up a little slush fund and keep it handy. A2 SHSH's pop up from time to time and it seems like most of them are on the chunky side, like .27 at least and most being in the .29x range or full fat.

They also don't seem to last very long either, so being able to pounce right then is a big plus.

Solstice,,

congrats on that new blade.

I really like my A-2 SHBA,

I am more partial to the thinner Busse Blades, but i have to admit,,that That SHBA thickness and handle design fits my hand like it was custom made for me, it fits my hand better than any of my other Busse's.
