Early november I was contaced by a guy asking about getting two edc's for christmas (he now has a happy brother and father). After talking to him and figuring out what he wanted, I told him I'd get on it.

Heres what I came up with -

#1 (I didn't get great pics of this one, sorry)

  • 1084 blade
  • stabilized spalted maple burl handle (thanks edgar figaro!)
  • Brown leather sheath

#2

  • 1084 blade
  • Ironwood handle (it's iron wood, but doesn't look the same as any other ironwood I've used before)
  • ss pin and thong hole, with black paracord thong and turned ironwood bead (made from handle cutoff)
  • black leather sheath

Wow! I really like the lines of your knives. Thin works for me. Especially like the Ironwood knife. Great job.

Nice knives. I've always been intrigued by knives without a plunge. What's the OAL on em? I've got quite a bit of ironwood like that. Used it a lot. It seems to have a lot more depth than the ironwood burl I've bought in the past. I trade for it with a guy that finds it in his desert jeep ramblings. He and his buddies would find a log and drag it into camp and stick it into the campfire. They'd just keep pushing it into fire as it would burn cause they'd never have anything with then that would cut it. He said on their last trip they had a log 9 to 10" in diameter and about 8' long that they burnt over the weekend. I sent him a link like this: https://www.gilmerwood.com/search_results.php?keywords=ironwood and so now have him broke from using ironwood for firewood.
