Christmas Gift from Dad

I just opened up a Christmas gift from my dad. Growing up we always had “slippies” as I got older I started carrying lock backs and now linerlocks but the old man kept carrying his little Peanut. I’ve carried small lock blades to avoid concerning the sheeple my Kershaw Grant County (ATS-34) will probably get passed down, in time, to my son.
Well I’ve been reading threads on Peanuts & Slippies and I got a slight itch for one but not a $40 itch. Glad I didn’t scratch that itch! What I have here in my hand is not an old Case Peanut but a well cared for one that has seen some use. It’s now going to ride shotgun next to my Benchmade Stryker.
Dad was a Lineman and always had a knife on him and he taught me how to sharpen knives and think. Why the “early” present, it was in a quart ziplock bag with a few ancient slippies that he had started collecting. Dad passed away February of 02’ too soon to meet his grandson. I’m going to keep this little Case Peanut in trust for him.
If someone would post pictures of the peanut & the old slippies for me I’d be grateful. I work on computers 10 hours a day and I just don’t want to mess with the server to host them. Thanks, Ray

Nice story, oldschool, and welcome.

Regarding images, one can't solicit members to post images here for them.

The reason is that the ability to post pix is a perk of paid membership.

That said, if someone wants to host your pix on their own photo website (not hosted by bladeforums) on your behalf, that is fine.

Thanks for your cooperation and welcome to the traditional forum.

I would gladly post them for you. Email me the pictures and I'll get them in this thread for you. I emailed you already so just reply back.

Man, that bottom one brings back boyhood memories right away!

They are nice knives. Question, what is the best way to care for these "older gents"? Oil the piviots and touch up the edges and leave them alone or can I safely get more invasive with their restoration?

Mineral oil works well on nearly anything from natural scales to blades etc.
You can use a lighter penetrating oil on the pivots.

Sharpen 'em by all means if you plan to carry and/or use them. Otherwise leave 'em as Dad had 'em imho.

Nice little group.

That knife in the center looks like a Camillus I got from my wifes grandfather. It came in a sheath with a set of pliers.

Good stuff.
Welcome oldschool.
Re pics, recently someone pointef me to photobucket as a free service for pictures. You might check it out.

You could lightly Scotchbrite the blades then sharpen&oil them up a bit.
They look good for many more years yet!
