I've made (= assembled) several knives as Christmas gifts for family members in the last few years. I made this ulu for my sister using black and green linen micarta, attached with epoxy and stainless corby bolts.
This is my sister's ulu next to mine that I made about six years ago with maroon and black linen micarta.
At Thanksgiving this year, my mother-in-law mentioned that one of her daughters and her husband didn't have any kind of good kitchen knives, so we decided on a butcher blade with toxic green G-10 handles. The slab I had was a bit thin, so I epoxied olive drab G-10 to it to help it fill the hand. I used epoxy and Loveless bolts to attach the scales.
This is another butcher blade I did for another sister-in-law last year using blue G-10 scales, attached with epoxy and Loveless bolts.
Finally, another ulu I made for my mother-in-law two years ago. She's an avid cook, uses it daily, and loves it. White paper micarta, stainless corbies and epoxy...
