Alright guys, it's getting close to that time of year again and I need some help. I have about 3 close friends I'd like to give a nice knife too, without tying up a bunch of money. What would you recommend, with and without a pocket clip. Thanks for the replies.

Bucks slimline series make good pocket carry. The 501 and 503 both fit William Henry clippouches for clip carry. I'm also fond of the Delica. Great size for EDC in a conservative environment. Then there is always Victorinox. You can pick knives to suit your friends individual needs.Depending on your budget, you may look at Santa fe Stoneworks, They do wonderful handles on knives. Even if its out of budget, look anyway, they do real art on the handles.

Are these presents for knife people already? For the average joe, a Kershaw Leek is really impressive.

Depending on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend...
Also, it will help to know if these are "knife people" or not.

But, for not much money, this is an easy question...
Clip: Ka-Bar Dozier Thumb Notch Hunter
No Clip: Buck 110

The Kershaw Vapor might be a good choice depending on your budget. About 20 bucks.

I've got some pretty hardcore buddies, and I bought them Ka-Bars (D2 Extrme) for X-mas. About $85 each.

Another vote for SAKs. The Soldier and Spartan are the "basic" models, and always useful. The Classic is just one of those knives that everyone should have. ;)

In the same catagory as the leek, try the CRKT M16 Compact. Aus 8 blade, aluminum handles, and sweet ergonomics.

I'll second this if these are gifts for knife people. Otherwise, I think that normal people will be more impressed with the spring than by the better steel.
