Well It seem the majority of my posts taking about what I should buy next, this one isn't any different. I should be getting some money for christmas (thats all I ever get [or want]) so the first thing I'm going to spend it on is probably e few new toys. One of which I'm planning it to be a tomahawk. My question is which one? I'm looking for a hawk to put it simply could be seen at camp or in the battlefield, If the makes any sense. Basicly what I'm looking for is a hawk that can be used successfully as a camp/bushcraft/survival tool but still be used as a hard use/light entry tool or god forbid a weapon. I'm sure something like this exists but my and now your challenge is to find one under $200. I said it was a challenge right:D.

Thankyou,
~Jake

The best gift is the gift of giving, imho!

I would tend to agree but with a family a "gossip-y" as minemost of what I get is what I ask for, several times from several different people so it makes sense to just ask for money. Also I don't want to have the why-do-you-need-another-"weapon" talk with my grandparents again.

After a lot of digging I found the VTAC, It looks fantastic in the tactical but as a woods tool it might be lacking. What do you think?

I have many posts here centered around the VTAC. While it is an amazing tool.....the obtuse edge (while still quite sharp from Fehrman) does not process wood very well. It would need to be re-profiled to be a dedicated bush tool, which would compromise the durability of the factory edge.

VTAC- and don't be afraid to reprofile it- would be like a trail hawk in head size but on steroids. Mine is slightly reprofiles. Factory edge or reprofiled, both would serve perfectly as a weapon. as for breaching.... I know there's some huge obsession with breaching these days but just be DEAD HONEST with yourself what do youwa tn it for, and for normal folks it falls down to: general camping, or "pretend to be survivor-man for a weekend" use, or true bushcraft AKA you hunt out in the sticks, or to defend ourselves from being killed when we can't have a gun. Mine is for defense and general camp use, not for breaching! I don't batton, I don't "process wood", and I am uninterested in teearing up a forest feeling macho with my sharps, so yeah, hope that helps. VTAC is a great one. I am getting a Kangee TODAY so I will let folks know how that goes after I live with it abit.

Thats one of the reasons I love it, because i can re-profile the edge but keep the spike for "breaching". By the way I can't speak for everyone but for me "breaching" means entering or exiting a place that does not want me too. This primarily focused on exiting.
