Folks,

I have been away from here most of the last 6 weeks mostly due to the amount of time I have spent away from home. I don't do "mobile devices" and did not want to start posting again until I had time to devote to it. I have been taking turns taking care of an out of state friend who lost a battle with pancreatic cancer in the last few months. He was a lifelong pal and several of us who grew up with him pitched in to make his exit from this world as graceful as well could. It all makes one very reflective about how good it is just to be alive. It did eat up a LOT of the last 6 weeks. It literally flew by for me.

In the meantime , I DO APPRECIATE all the nice things folks have said about my work here in my absence..I put a lot of time and hard work into the Becker grips I make and it's nice to see folks who appreciate quality. It puts things into perspective and it is that vein I catch you up on a few things...

First- what turned into my "Summer Giveaway" is now over and the winners posted. Sorry for the delay in getting them up . I have picked the winners and I hope they feel it is a little bit of "Christmas in August".. That thread has been updated..

Secondly, for the last few days, I have been busy in the shop finishing up the last batch of Tweener scales for a long while. If you have ever been thinking of a set of a truly fancy set of wood tweener scales, now might be a good time to belly up to the bar an buy a set.
About 10 sets of these are available or sale and I will have closeups with better lighting tomorrow when I have the time to get more pics. For forum members ONLY -they will run $35 to $45 shipped depending on the wood type and grade. Most are $35 to $40. they'll be $15% higher in price when posted on some online Auction site. The fit and finish on these is as perfect as I can make it. The Hex nuts fit so snuggly they must be pushed in.;) Anyone who is interested in buying a set, PM me here.

And third is a pass along deal on some new Beckers.Last week as I was travelling back home through Eastern CO I stopped into a pretty well stocked Gun/ Outdoor store that was marking down a lot of their fixed blade knife stock. At any rate , I worked out a deal for all their remaining stock- a total of about 20 knives. About half of them were bought by friends and relatives and I kept a few for my own use.

I have decided to list 6 of them in the classified section here on BF in hopes it would save a few forum members a few bucks. The knives are all new and unused right from their back room. The prices are my actual cost plus the average parcel post to met them anywhere in the Con US.When shipping is included, the prices are at least 10% lower than the cheapest online sources I can find. The prices are firm- no package etc. The prices are for each knife to your door. If anyone wants custom grip sets mailed in the same box and paid for at the same time, I will knock a few bucks off the Scale shipping. UPDATE- ALL KNIVES ARE NOW SOLD!!

Good to see you back. Scales look great.Really digging those dark scales in the bottom right pic. Sorry to hear about your friend....

Kabar..

Thanks for the well wishes. It's been a bittersweet Summer.

As to the dark scales in the lower corner they are California English walnut I believe, but the wood finished out looking a lot like quarter sawn Cocobolo. Dark reddish Brown with black stripes..

All the solid wood grips have a bit of history with regards to each peice of wood. All the dark grips are a different species of N.A. grown walnut- Eastern Black, Claro, Bastogne, English and even a set made from GRAFTED Claro/English.

nice work and good to have you back - some of the laminated scales are very nice - the wood is exquisite,

very nice, indeed. sorry to hear about your friend. also, nice thing to offer discounted Beckers in the exchange. welcome back man. i don't care what they say about you, you are ok in my book. :p
