Dont ya just love it when a shipment of belts come in? Tru-grit and Supergrit orders showed up on Friday.I finally went ahead and got some belts for my 2" x 132" grinder. Now I can do some flat grinds on something besides the 4 x 36" p.o.s. I tried it out yesterday and now realize that flat grinding is much harder than hollow grinding.I'm making a big chopper out of 1095 and it is tough to keep the grind flat instead of convex.I'll try to post some pics of the big blue beast soon.Oh and if you have never tryed cork belts,DO IT!.

Mark I'm with you on the cork belts. I use a 600 mostly, loaded with green chrome, as my last grinder step when working on a mirror finish. It's fantastic. Do you actually have 132" cork belts?! Wow! What's your use for them?

Do the long belts cost about the same as 72" ones do? If so, that would be much cheaper to run than the 72s, similar to moving up from 48".

Hi Dave,

I got the 132" cork belt from Supergrit.I took Jerry Hossoms advice and go directly from my 60 grit belt to the 400 grit cork belt.you get to skip all the in between grits which saves money and the cork belt cleans up the 60 grit scratches nicely. The 132" belts often are on very good deals.I got some on close-out for about $2.50 each from supergrit. The nice thing about the longer belt is it stays cooler that the 72" by far.I guess it makes sense.

Cork rocks. I finish all of mine that way now. I do go to 120 and then a few Norax swipes at 100, 45 & 15 for good measure before the cork.
