I traded some knives to Nemo in France and since then I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for the package (especially since Nemo emails everyday and says "You should be signing something today"
) I told him a watched pot never boils, but today "felt" like the day and sure enough, here they were! What I got (sorry, no pics, but I'll add them later today hopefully):
1) Spyderco Lum folder with plain edge and blue Almite handles. I've wanted one of these for YEARS. WAYYYYY back when I saw a picture of the original Lum folder in titanium, a long time before Spyderco picked it up. I had Mel "Madpoet" Sorg (R.I.P.) make a fixed blade version of it for me as a kit knife that I could finish, and a few years later Spyderco picked it up as a folder. I have wanted one since day 1 and I have one now! After seeing the size of my FB version, this seems tiny, but it's great and I can't wait to start carrying it. Spyderco never fails to impress me. My next project is to try to make some custom scales for it, but the hardware is tapped right into the aluminum scales, so it could be a bigger job than I am up to!
2) Fred Perrin neck knife prototype. This is a stainless steel knife similar in an ergonomic sense to a La Griffe, but without the finger hole. It was made by his protege, Marco. Great knife and great, minimal sheath. Worth a pic, so check back in a while!
3) Fred Perrin Street Bowie. Another wonderful knife, this one was made by Fred's top student, Pepe! I think I have something from everyone over there, now!
Wood handles with some sort of gold spots??? I'll ahve to ask Nemo what that's all about. A little filework, looks forged, but might not be. Can't really see a temper line, but it "smells" like high carbon steel! Nemo buried the Concealex sheath in an old leather hunting knife sheath. Tricky!
Anyway, great stuff and I'll post pics, actually, in the Gallery instead of in this thread, so check there later today. Thanks, Nemo!
