Hi everyone. Im thinking of getting a knife for a special young woman this christmas. Im thinking something with a 3in blade, strong lock and good quality. Probbably a Benchmade because I like the axis lock. Any suggestions? Thanks.

LOL I knew I would get some of those comments. Im being serious though. She is a big outdoors girl, loves hiking and fishing. She is 20 and isnt one of those people who dont know how to use a knife. I just want to get her a good one for edc and that will be a good outdoor user too. Kind of leaning toward a Mini-Grip.

I am telling you from personal experience that she is going to want it light and thin.

My wife preferred the 707 sequel over the mini grip just due to thinness.

Hmmm.

Even my wife isn't too partial to knives.

You might look at the Spyderco Delicas -- there are some with lovely colored handles (even pink!).

Assuming the girlishness of a pink handle won't offend her...or you.

And Spydercos come 'scary sharp' out of the box.

Go with you intuition - You can't go wrong with a mini-griptillian.

I got a girl a pink knife once and I regret it.

I am a Spyderco fan but I also loke the BenchMade 940 series and the 921 Switchback. This latter comes with aluminum scales anodized a medium blue and it has the Axis Lock on its main blade as well as a friction lock mini-blade for fine work. It is a favorite of mine, but it is pretty expensive, $118.76 at New Graham.

I also like the Spyderco Volpe, a collaborative effort with Fox of Italy. It has a 3 7/16" blade with a frame lock and is very handsome. It runs $83.44 at New Graham. A somewhat smaller knife that is very good looking is the Viele 2 with its 2 7/8" blade. It runs $93.43 at New Graham. Understand, please, that both of these knives are high line and quality items. Spyderco makes less expensive knives as well. I would suggest the Delica 4, the Native, and the various versions of the Salsa. The Salsa is only 2.5", but does come in a variety of colors. I own all of the abouve knives and I have found that my wife and other persons seem to like their appearance. I know that I find all of them quite useful and effective.

you may want to look at the BM 940 or 941. The knife is very slim and light. A girl I work with carries one everyday and loves it.

Hope you will be able to grab her heart with that knife.

Gory or romantic?
