There were even more knives involved in the holiday season, but these are the notable ones. :)

On Christmas Eve, I was one of those idiots who went out to do some last minute shopping for no good reason at all. ;)
On such a voyage, one needs the proper equipment, right?

Cold Steel Large Vaquero Voyager (discontinued), which I bought myself for Christmas (and came a few days early ).

Then, there are the actual Christmas knives...

The Fox Knives Nidhug (which my dad got for me), and the Spyderco Lil Matriarch (a present from my wife).

Got the Nidhug on Saturday, when we did an early gift exchange with my dad (you know, the joy of scheduling all the various family things in different cities). Used it a fair bit for cutting tape when wrapping the presents for my brother and his wife, and then, of course, to open my presents.

My wife made sure to wrap the Lil Matriarch in many layers of paper, foil, more paper, more paper, and lots of tape in between each and every layer. Without a knife, there is virtually no way I could have gotten the knife! :D

Let's see all your festive knives.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've not seen the Nidhug before, but I'm guessing it's a Willumsen design? It looks very similar to one of Lansky's Willumsen knives.

That it is.
It is a slip-joint knife with a very heavy spring.
G-10 handle slabs, and the handle itself is quite ergonomic.

It seems to be similar to the Wilumsen Lansky “Legal everywhere” tactical knife. Also has a very stiff back spring.

Got a 204P Millie (from the missus)

and a new FFG Pacific Salt to replace my 10-years old one

It is similar, but gives nicer scales, an easier to sharpen tip, and is a tad lighter. But it is obvious the same guy designed it, that's for sure. ;)

That's the one. I did a search and came up with this info: http://knifenews.com/black-fox-nidhug/. I think I'm gonna have to try one out.

Go for it!

So..... my brother, who is the king of, "you never know what you're gonna get as a gift", from him, got me this little beaut, uhm or gem, er, I mean vintage early 20th century AW Wadsworth & Son (Austria)...

Still not sure how I feel about this

Oh man, that is the purest example of a Christmas knife I have ever seen. :D
As in, the only reason you got it is because someone gave it to you for Christmas.

I say keep it in the liquor cabinet, and enjoy its festive vibes. ;)

Next time that green Millie goes on sale I am grabbing a backup. Don’t like any of the others out right now. As for Xmas, nothing. My family has no understanding about my knife addiction. Just don’t get it.

Next year, ask them for Amazon gift cards.
Then you can buy the knives you want, and they totally count as Christmas presents. :)

For sure, he knows I collect knives, and, he bought me a somewhat vaguely collectible knife, lmao...

It will stay by the bar, as it is, if nothing else, a conversation starter...

Now the trick will be topping him for next year.

You can get him one of those slip-joints that looks like a leg in high heels when closed.
Put on A Christmas Story...when it gets to the part with the lamp, you give him his knife.
You can tell him "It's a major award." :D

Wowser that’s the oddest, weirdest and awesomeness I’ve seen. It feel like it would make me a little uncomfortable! Lol jk

I got two this year.

My family got me a Copper & Clad Limited Buck 110 with a drop point blade and indigo blue scales.

And I got a little cheap pocket knife, that means a great deal to me. My niece has a stepson that is 11, and he loves knives. In November, I took him to his first knife show, and he gave me this little thing for Christmas, I asked my niece where he bought it,and she said it was one in his collection, he wanted to get you a knife, but he didn't have any money, so he picked one from ones he already had. How can I not like it???? :)

That would mean so much to me. How cool is that :)

I actually received a little schrade liner lock from my brother in law, let me say locks more solid than knives 10x more expensive ive had, and pretty dang sharp!

Like I said, he is a master at "gag" gifts, that are not completely useless or worthless, like, you kind of have to appreciate them on some level, even though they are always awkward and uncomfortable on some level.
Like an antique deer foot knife with cork screw, (try to keep the fur out of the wine, lol).

A few years back he gifted my wife and I this "uncomfortable" yet hand crafted gift, that still sits on a shelf in the basement...

What else can one do with a full antique black face tea set? Smdh

I expect one every other year or so, and next year I will try and top him.

I avoid those animal hoof knives at all costs. Way too many times I have seen pictures of them infested with maggots.
