Here are a couple of Christmas presents for family and friends. For all four I used Alabama Damascus blanks. I had them shipped in the annealed state so I could do file work, then sent them back for HT. I guess I should have taken pictures of the spine.

The first two are for my brother-in-law and nephew.

I tried to make them identical exept one with a brass bolster and mosiac pin the other N/S. For someone of my talent/experience that is not easy.

This one is for my daughter's boyfriend, He's a dental student (as is my daughter), so I wanted to use mammoth tooth. Again, probably overloaded my talent, the spacers are off a little on the bottom (intentionally didn't show that) looks OK, but I regret not getting it right. At the time I had broke the piece three times and was afraid if I broke it again I wouldn’t have enough to use, and had already spent more than I should.

This one is for my business partner

Nice job, that last one is my favorite. Would have really looked killer with mosaics. What wood did you use for the handle?

Also, where did you get your blanks from?

It's a buckeye burl. The blanks were from Alabama Damascus Steel, they sell on ebay, but I bought direct since I didn't wany the blanks heat treated prior to working on them.

You did some really good work. I know they would all be proud to get them as gifts

Is Alabama Damascus known for good blanks? I've seen some damascus blanks on eBay that were very cheap and were probably made from a variety of crap steels and other metals.

Beautiful presents. Wish I was related!!
