EMS on 18 inch 30 ounce M-43 by Rajkumar. Satisal wood handle. All fittings are white metal. Nice rig at $140.

are these capable of splitting wood?

The knives? Depends on which model, some are much better suited than others. The hat and necklace, not so much. At least I wouldn't think. Then again I have yet to see a testing video proving that the hat and necklace can't split wood, but I'm willing to take that on faith.

JNK:

Good snag on the M-43. This is a do-everything knife, and a particularly nice one.

Nice 18" Siru.

I know Sirus aren't on the "field usage" list but I bet that hting would never break from wood splitting.

I like the Chiruwa Sirupate (Chiru-pate). Tempting just to know how it balances, at only 24oz she's gonna be quick.

Thanks Dave! I have a new appreciation for Karda's avatar. It was a bit of a toss up between it and the chiru-pate [ :) ] but the warranty for field use sealed the deal for me. I'll keep everyone posted on how it works out. Cheers!

Ah crap, I think we're competing to buy the same knives. That's the one I would have picked if you hadn't beat me to it. That was a good catch, and made by Rajkumar too.

That chiruwa sirupate might be a good machete for lighter stuff. I'm not sold on that idea yet, but the more I think about it, the more I think there's a HI kukri for every task. Plus, they're cheaper than the famous best of the best, and probably nearly as good or better in quality, depending on how you make the comparison. I was thinking of spending $300 on a 1311, and there's not a knife here that costs anything close to that. The performance to cost ratio looks really good...

Oooooh, 21 inches would be perfect. Since RSS doesn't work (aaaaargh!), I'll just have to enjoy the show from afar. I hope you get it when it pops up!

I'm kind of envying that meat cutter. I'm not comfortable in the kitchen, but somehow that blade makes me think I could be.

EMS sent on the Chiruwa Sirupati (Chirupati ?).

Love Chiruwa style/ love villager stlye=no brainer. Tried to resist last evening , but when I saw was still there this morning UK time-meant to be. Early Christmas present to self.

I think a lot of people were looking at Tirtha's sirupati, so it's good you got it. My WWII was made by him. I haven't decided what my machete blade will be yet, but I am considering one like that sirupati. I bet it balances nicely.

Those are some really nice Khukri's. The Sirupati and M43 both caught my eye. The meat cutter is impresive! I bet it would do it's job really well.

If I didn't have all of these:

I would have bought it.

Getting to the point where I have 2-3 of everything and only something special really catches my eye.
