Well, guys, the infamous "Christmas" shipment finally arrived with many surprises. First, because Lalit stuck some pashmina shawles into the shipment, and because all textiles must be entered "formally" into the country (read: a pain in the a--), it took 3 days and four trips to the airport to get the shipment.
Second, there were two BEAUTIFUL khukuris the likes of which I have never seen. I'll post pictures when I have a chance to breath, but basically they are horn-sheathed and have BEAUTIFUL (not tacky) brass inlay. A sight to behold.
Third, there was a bit of a mix up on the size of the AKs. Believe it or not, Lalit sent 16 and 18 inch BLADED khukuris (with overall lengths of 20 plus inches) instead of 16 and 18 inch OVERALL length AKs. I've already rectified the situation by ordering, last night, replacement AKs. So, for the time being, I have a lot of large AKs. I'm not sure what to do with them except to have a bargain sale again, as there is not much of a market for these big things and I don't want to keep my capital tied up. I'll post more details later and then entertain suggestions. Obviously, I'd like to get some in the hands of the forumites for REEEEEL cheap (no, not $35.00 !).
I'll post more when I have a chance later today.
Perhaps the prettiest "large one" is Steven F's special order (now too large) of a horn handled 18 inch panawal (now about 24 inches long!). It has his initials, and even though he'll be getting a re-order, this baby is unique.
