After sharpening my father's keychain SAK today, and having seen the condition of the blade on his Leatherman Charge Ti, I have concluded that he needs a new knife. He's a locksmith and gets a lot of use out of these two knives, but they tend to chip out from whatever he's doing with them.

So, what would be a good under 4" and under $100 folder to compliment his multitool that will stand up to the abuse he's putting his knives through? Preferably it would be something with a fairly thick edge out of the box, I'm not prepared to reprofile it myself.

(Plain edge only please, no serrated or partially serrated blades.)

For 50 bucks get him a Kersaw JYD II then spend the other 50 bucks by getting your self a nice little production knife.

The Benchmade griptillian is a sturdy knife and you can find it on knife center for around 75 bucks i have heard that the D2 model cabellas sells on their website is nice and durable.
