I just gave my 14 year old son his first rifle for Christmas. A Remington mdl 700 in .308. I will never forget the look on his face !
My father was right ( as always ) Christmas is truley best seen thru the eyes of a child.
Merry Christmas :)

I know what you mean. I gave my daughter her first bow this year. Needless to say, she was very excited (but the Zhu Zhu pets were the acknowledged favorite this year). On a different note, can I be an adopted son (or at least a favored nephew) of yours next year:D?

That is a fine rifle but read up on the possibility of misfires closing the bolt or releasing the safety. Make sure he's aware that the barrel never points at anything other then the intended target or the ground.

I remember getting my first gun for Christmas. Had to be 13-14 years ago. It is a great feeling.

Good for you.Just stay safe and enjoy.

I made mine carry an unloaded gun a long time before allowing to even carry a live round.Even after a lot of safety talk it's surprising how many times you will look around to see your kids gun pointed in your direction.Like everything ,talk is good but it's real practice that makes the difference.

I got both of my sons a pistol each, also both got a Gerber prodigy, and a Case folder.... Yes I saw the look also......

My 8yr old got her first knife, a Pink ESEE Izula. Whats so much better than the OMG!!! DADDY, REALLY? ITS MINE? Is the opportunity to have her with me, participating, not just spectating.

excuse me but that'S just hilarious. 14 years old and already a gun? that's america :D. over here in europe you need to struggle to get a permission for almost any gun and in the usa a 14 year old kid gets his own .308 for christmas!

at least it's a decent firearm.

Is Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, and Sweden not considered "over here in Europe". Its an interesting culture thing. Where they see it for what it is, a tool of survival, others in less wilderness dense places see it as a weapon. Your viewpoint I'd imagine comes from allied disarmament policys post war, and less so prewar nazi disarming civilians.

Merry christmas, may it serve him well.

I get accused of carrying a weapon when I take out my Swisschamp to remove the toothpick!

The gun was presented in a hard case with a trigger lock securely in place. When he opened the case the first thing he did, even before picking up the rifle was to open the bolt and visualy check the chamber. It's good to know that sometimes they do listen.
